Growing up it was a constant that we would always spend time with Matt & Jack on family vacations and Thanksgiving. Either in York Maine or Falmouth MA. Jason & I were so close in age, it was perfect. In our minds we were like the A-team or one of the many Comic book super hero teams the boys opened the doors for us to read and fantasize about being. Matt was our encyclopedia as we got older, we added to the many conversations at the table on Thanksgiving. What would start out as muted dinner conversation would then turn into the biggest comic and movie fanboy conversations ever. To the point were no one else could get a word in. As we did get older Matthew was wonderful with our kids, sitting next to Becca most Thanksgivings. Matthew was a wonderful loving man who could talk about anything and have a better grasp then most in the room. For me I loved most the Movie, Music, and Comic book talks we had all our lives. These were some of the best times I've ever had.
Thank you Matt

I have gotten to know Matt through Jack and Steph and heard regularly of how he was doing. When I met Matt, he was strikingly genuine and sweet, with a fun spirit and always smiling. That impression has stayed with me since. I am so heartbroken for you all. With much love, Hemali

To Matt's family,
I'd like to send you guys my most sincere and heartfelt condolences on Matt's passing. I had the honor to work with him at Toast for the time he was with us and his loss has been very deeply felt by me on a personal level. He and I connected very quickly. Matt was a very personable and lovable guy in general and in a very diverse group of people he had the ability to connect with EVERYONE in our small and tight knit team immediately. I'd say he and I connected even further though- although he was a few years older than me, we had similar tastes in music, similar outlooks on life, similar politics, and similarly dark, ironic senses of humor. We loved talking about recording music, our favorite records, and making jokes about various Boston stereotypes. One of the characters we made up together was named Seany McMurphy who was a contractor of sorts and got himself into an array of trouble. I don't say this lightly but Matt was definitely like a big brother figure for me and I hope as his family you know what a great person he was for so many other people outside your family. I was talking to a mutual friend of ours about him, unknowingly, the morning after he passed with mutual glowing admiration. If there is anything I can do for you guys or if you just need a friend or stories or anything at all please reach out to me [email protected] or (978)758-4344. I really wish you the best in an extremely difficult time.
Sincerely,Tim Moriarty

Matt was a really great person. He was in his element when he was making people happy. Matt struck me as someone that wanted to make a positive impact on other people, and that is truly rare to find. It brings me great sadness to know that I won't see his smiling face anymore, but I take some solace in the fact that I was lucky enough to work with Matt for the last 2 years, and that I got to experience his desire to be a good person to his friends around him.

Matt liked classic music and pop culture collectibles. He had gotten some 80's sugary breakfast cereal collectibles (Count Chocula, Franken Berry and so on) that he thought his nephew Jake (my son) would like. Anyone who likes collectibles knows that they are supposed to stay in the box and in pristine condition. So Matt is playing with Jake and gets out the collectibles. Well, Jake was only 2 or 3 at the time, so he immediately ripped into the boxes and started man-handling these colorful collectible figures. The look on Matt's face was priceless - a mix of horror and humor. If it had been me, he would have been angry, but he loved Jake so much that he just let him have at it. After all, 2 year olds aren't concerned with re-sale value.

Miss you Matty.

I feel lucky to have met Matt, and to have called him a friend. I picture Lennon, Harrison, Bonham among the many jockeying for position for the same privilege. My condolences to Matt's family.
