Glenn Cronauer, 80, of Bear Creek Twp., passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, at his home, with his wife by his side, after a courageous battle against cancer.
He was born in Plains Twp. and attended Plains High School. He worked on the Delaware & Hudson/Canadian Pacific Railroad as a brakeman/conductor for 28 years and served as local chairman for UTU Local 859.
A generous man, he helped anyone who needed it. He liked old western TV shows and movies and built an impressive collection of old magazines from the genre. He also took great pleasure in all the James Bond novels and movies. He told dad Jokes long before they were referred to as dad jokes. He coached minor league baseball for Bear/Buck Little League and was a head coach for Bear Creek Flag Football. He faithfully followed the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies and Penn State football and had fun seeing games in person or watching them on TV with his son. He loved watching his grandson play youth soccer and baseball. He enjoyed traveling and going on cruises with his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Turner Cronauer; and brothers, William and Robert.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Knorr Cronauer; son, Glenn and wife, April Allabaugh; grandson, Rowan, all of Bear Creek Twp.; brother, James, Wilkes-Barre; brother-in-law, John Knorr, Warrior Run; and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from Daniel J. Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek Twp.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Sacred Heart staff for their effort and dedication.
