Arlington, Texas - Richard Dan Ankele, 87, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 in Arlington.
Graveside Service: 10 a.m. Thursday, January 28, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Thursday, January 28, at First Presbyterian Church, 1200 S Collins St, Arlington. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to Cal Farley's Boys and Girls Ranch, PO Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas or First Presbyterian Church in Arlington, Texas.
Richard was born on June 16, 1933 in Dallas, Texas to Lewis Ankele and Gertrude Margaret Kruger. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School (Dallas) in 1949. He attended Arlington State College (Arlington) and then Texas State College (Denton) where he obtained his B.A. degree in Biology in 1954.
Richard obtained his M.D. degree from the University of Texas at Galveston in 1960. He served his internship at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth from 1960-1961. He completed his Anesthesiology Residency from the University of Texas at Galveston in 1964. Richard is certified by the American College of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Anesthesiology. He belonged to several professional organizations.
Richard married Lois Faye Dockery on April 21, 1962 who together had 2 children; a son, Kenneth Wayne and a daughter, Cathleen Ann. He practiced medicine in Arlington, Texas for over 25 years interrupted by a 2 year tour of military duty in the US Navy first in Portsmouth, Virginia; then in DaNang, Vietnam: concluding his military obligation with the rank of Commander at the US Naval Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Richard enjoyed writing poetry, hiking, backpacking and music. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Arlington, Texas.
Survivors: Wife of 58 years, Lois; son, Kenneth and wife, Stacey and their 3 sons, Matthew, Kyle and Jacob; daughter, Cathy and husband, David and their kids, Andrew, Matthew, Megan, Peyton, Baylor and Adison; and one great-granddaughter, Melanie.

So sorry to hear about this. We enjoyed many great camping and hiking experiences with the Boy Scout Troop. He was a very good friend and a tremendous help in the scout troop 131..
