Adam Miller Obituary

Adam Ryan Miller
December 1, 1980 - April 20, 2021
Garner, North Carolina - Adam Ryan Miller, 40, died Tuesday at UNC Hospital Intensive Care. Born in Concord, NC, he was the much loved son of Gilbert Carl and Karen C. Miller, who survive him. Since 1985, he lived in Garner, attending Aversboro Elementary, East Garner Middle and Garner Senior High School where he graduated in 1999. Adam was an Eagle Scout and loved professional wrestling, sports of all kinds, music, his friends and his family. In 2004, he graduated from NCSU with a degree in Communications.
His last twenty years were challenging as he suffered greatly with mental illness and eating disorders. He fought both with great effort and diligence. Adam peacefully succumbed to heart failure with his parents at his side.
Due to restrictions surrounding Covid-19, a private service will be held at Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington.
We wish to thank the numerous healthcare providers along the way who tried so tirelessly to help Adam with his battle. We are forever in your debt.
In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to a charity of your choice in Adam's memory.

Adam and I were second cousins and though I only met him once when he was just a young boy, I remember his joy for life. My great condolences to my dear cousins, Carl and Karen. Bless you for being the wonderful parents that you were to Adam and may you be comforted by your memories.

We were blessed to have a son like Adam. He honored himself & our family by always doing his best in everything that he did. He had many friends & family members who loved his giving spirit, friendliness & wonderful nature. To quote Adam, his first 20 years of life was wonderful, fun & eventful filled with many good times with his friends and family. His last 20 years was not good because he fought the mental health issues that he developed which included a severe eating disorder & obsessive compulsive disorder. He fought the illnesses with prayer, seeing numerous doctors and health care specialist, He took many kinds of medicines & was hospitalized numerous times. He fought the good fight & wanted to have an enjoyable life & have friends again. God, the great healer has him now and he is not suffering. For that we are glad, but we are sad & often mad that he is not in our lives. He will always be loved/liked & missed by all who knew him. " To God be the glory."
We have great memories of his hard work, many accomplishments including graduating from NC State University with honors, obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout, and his athletic skills. He loved sports of all kinds & played baseball and basketball.
He loved music, video games, professional wrestling, professional & college sports. He liked East Carolina & UNC-CH sports, the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets, the Atlanta Braves, etc.
Adam was very active in the church @ The First Presbyterian Church of Garner in his youth. He believed in God & Jesus & prayed daily.
Adam was an organ donor, but due to the damage to his body from his illness, he was only able to donate his corneas to the "Miracles of Sight", so others could see.
Rest in Peace Adam, rest in peace.

Adam was a very good friend & co worker, he worked very hard with all of us @ Garner Towne Square Theatre. He would help anybody that he saw coming in the theater doors or even going out. It was a great previlage of knowing him & working with him & a very great team worker. He is family to us all.

Adam was a wonderful son and human being. We will remember the very happy memories of his youth and the friends who meant so much to him. His struggles were not his whole story. He was a loving, thoughtful person who loved greatly and gave freely of himself. We will love and miss him forever.
