Ronnie Lawing Obituary
Born: February 2, 1947 | Died: July 10, 2025
Ronnie Lawing, age 78, of Greeneville, passed away at Durham-Hensley on Thursday.
He was a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran. Ronnie was honorably discharged from the Army after two years of service. He was a well-known carpet installer, having worked with his brother Gail until his retirement.
Survivors include three sisters: Betty Lou Lawing, Barbara Early, and Joy and Rev. Dennis Daugherty; one brother: Lloyd and Sandra Lawing; one brother-in-law: Rev. Gene Swatzell; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lawing was preceded in death by his parents: Stark and Vella Lawing; four sisters: Marcella Foulks, Jackie Masters, Phyllis Swatzell, and Patty Hensley; five brothers: Joe D. "Bud" Lawing, Joe B. "Pete" Lawing, Gail Lawing, Bill Lawing, and an infant, Terry Lawing.
The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 20th, at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 21st, in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Daughtery officiating. Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens with The Greene County Honor Guard conveying military honors.
Pallbearers will be Teddy Lawing, Ron Hensley, Micheal Hensley, Shawn Lawing, Tyler Burger, and Dennis Lynn Daughtery.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Durham-Hensley, and Caris Hospice.
