Henry Stickney Obituary

November 8, 1932 - October 17, 2017 Henry Edward "Hank" Stickney passed away peacefully on October 17, 2017 after a courageous battle with malignant melanoma. Born on November 8, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio, Hank entered the US Air Force, and rose to become Colonel with 21 years of distinguished service around the world. He was a very successful businessman, creating a business to serve hemophilia patients at home. He developed Factor 7 an important blood clotting agent. He built more minor league baseball teams and parks than any individual to date. Rancho Cucamonga Quakes was the closest to his heart and the most successful and innovative at the time, quickly followed by turning around minor baseball team the Las Vegas Stars (now Area 51's), and eleven other minor league teams across the country. The Dayton Dragons stadium was recognized as one of the most beautiful and successful franchises in the country. Hank and his son Ken brought the first professional ice hockey team to Las Vegas (Las Vegas Thunder). He was owner of Dillstar Productions that brought you Joey & Maria's comedy Italian Wedding. Inc. magazine honored him as Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005. He was inducted into the Hall Fame with Walt Disney and fewer than 100 leaders. He was a dedicated family man raising three children who became very successful, as well. He is predeceased by his son Douglas Stickney. He leaves behind his devoted wife Beverly, his daughter Dr. Sondra Mericle (James), his son Kenneth Stickney (Tracy), and four stepchildren: Shelley, Johnny, Julie and Matthew, ten grandchildren plus six step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Stickney used to stay at the hotel I worked at whenever there was a Quakes game. He would call about 30 minutes before he was to arrive and I would always make sure he received an upgraded room. He was always so pleasant to me and I will never forget him. Rest in peace, Mr. Stickney.

RIP Hank! One of your many ventures in life was "Dillstar Productions" with which you employed me as an actor and director for approximately 15 years. I was blessed to know you better when I began directing the shows and you told me stories of your days as Lt. Colonel in the Air Force. Besides those two accomplishments, you also invented a blood clotting strategy for hemophiliacs, ran and supported "many" minor league baseball teams (including R.C. The Quakes and initiated Tremor, the mascot) and so much more! The service today inspired me in so many ways, as you lived your life as the best as any human being could! My condolences go out to your wife Beverly, his daughter Sondra, his son Ken, and your step-children Julie Diane, Matt Janse, Johnny, Shelly, your grandchildren and step-granchildren. Thank you Hank for your confidence in me and RIP!

I am so thankful that my last memories of Uncle Hank will be of him talking and laughing, having a good day. He was telling us stories of his days in the Air Force as a young pilot and chatting about college football on a nice Saturday afternoon. His laugh and smile brought us so much joy. He will always be remembered in our hearts and prayers. He is resting in eternal peace in the arms of Jesus, watching over us and waiting patiently until our chores here on earth are complete, so we can be with him once again in heaven. My sincere condolences to my Aunt Bev, his best friend, partner, and wife and to all his beloved children, grandchildren and family, I am sorry for your sorrow, peace be with you, God Bless you all.

Love, Patti, Tom, Jacob, Max, and Emma.

Hank was truly one of the most remarkable men I have ever met and will ever meet. I will miss his laugh, his smile, and his loving spirit. But I know our separation is temporary. We will see each other again one day standing before our Lord Jesus Christ. May his soul rest in the presence of our Lord.

Hank was one of the greatest men I have ever known. Didn't he make us feel special? Didn't he enrich our lives? Didn't he help so many? Yes he most certainly did. What a terrific person and wonderful family member we have lost.
