Mary Webb Obituary
Louisville - Mary McDowell Webb passed away Monday morning at Jefferson Manor, 3 days before her 96th birthday. She had recently tested positive for Covid, as well as having several underlying medical issues.
She was born in Louisville on New Year's Eve 1924, to Louise Ross McDowell and Robert Briggs McDowell. She graduated from Kentucky Home School in Louisville and attended Finch College in New York City. She was a well-known landscape designer, who loved nature and favored simplicity of design. Mrs. Webb's family and friends loved her dearly and she had a true zest for life. A world-traveler who always kept her Kentucky roots close to her heart, she was and will remain an inspiration to all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Sawrie Webb Jr., and her sister Fayette McDowell Willett. She is survived by her son, Robert McDowell Webb, two grandchildren, Julia McDowell Hohmann and Weston Robert Webb, and five great grandchildren.
A private Scattering of the Ashes service will be held at the 2nd Presbyterian Church at a future date. Mary Webb (Mai Mai) was one of finest people my husband and had the pleasure of knowing. She opened her home to us many times and made us feel so welcomed. We corresponded frequently over the years always enjoying what she had to say. She will always have a place in our hearts.
