Ercel Carter Obituary

Ercel Carter

Mrs. Ercel Mae Carter, age 89 of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully at Surry Community Health on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. She was born in Randolph County on May 12, 1936, to the late James Gilbert and Gracie Valentine. Mrs. Carter was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was an extraordinary mother and was the foundation of the family legacy. Mrs. Carter leaves behind to cherish her memories, son and daughter-in-law, Wil Carter and Amy; grandchildren and spouses, Corey Carter and Karin; great granddaughters (Keiley and Chelsea); great great grandchildren (Luna, Zaylie, Kyrie, and Kehlani); Caleb Carter and Hannah (Anderson, Austin, and Camden); Alexandra Scott and Shadrick. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her daughter, Johnney Mae Leake; sons, George Carter and Troy Carter; sister, Barbara Evans; brother, Otis Brim. To honor Mrs. Carter's request, all services will be private. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Moody's of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Carter family.
