Mr. Larry McElhany, age 71, Verona, Missouri, was a true cowboy who had always said that he wanted to die with his boots on. They worked and raised their children on their farm near Verona the past 19 years. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and was near to finalizing the process to qualify having a certified Organic Farm. He had a special relative relationship with his grandchildren and spent as much time as possible with them. He was a trustee and treasurer of the Life Tabernacle Church in Highlandville, Missouri.

Others preceding him in death were a daughter Kristie Ann Rattles, a grandson Jonathon Pope, and a great granddaughter, Chloe Baker, and his father, Leon McElhany. My deepest condolences to Larry's family. We were classmates at Republic and before that were family friends. I have happy memories when we were kids playing at his farms with our brothers and sisters while our parents played cards and cooked delicious meals. I remember the tragic death of his mother Norma. Larry was a very nice person, and though I have been away from Republic many years, it was always good to see him at the class reunions. I know his family and friends are going to miss him terribly.
