Dennis Bentz Obituary
Dennis Edward Bentz, passed from this life and entered into heavenly life on July 01, 2025. He is our beloved husband, father, brother and friend.
Dennis was born on September 17, 1940 in Ludington. The son of Jean Marie (Asuma) and Raymond Albert Bentz. He was cherished and adored by his parents and at 10 years old welcomed the arrival of sister Peggy Jo and later arrival of sister Brenda Jean. Dennis was very excited and happy to have sisters. Even though years apart, we remained close and loved each other immensely.
Dennis grew up on Lewis St. and then 6th St. (Fourth Ward) in Ludington, always close to Grandparents John and Julia Asuma and Clara and Albert Bentz. He always enjoyed the big Bentz family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was extremely proud of his Grandpa John Asuma who was Captain of the City of Midland Carferry for many years. The family later moved to Quarterline Road in Scottville, where they spent many happy years together.
He graduated from Ludington High School and kept many lifelong friendships with classmates, especially David Gibbs, Rik Laird, Jim Wells, and Bruce O'Connor. Dennis excelled in mathematics and continued his education at Michigan Tech in the UP, graduating from Michigan State with a degree in Mathematics, and obtaining a Masters degree from University of MI Business School. His employment with Ford Motor Co as a computer analyst took him to the city of Detroit, where he would remain the rest of his life. He loved the big city life but would return to Ludington for his dose of all his favorite things! He later continued his career with Stroh Brewing Co, a company he loved and would retire from.
Dennis is survived by his wife Rozalyn Moccia Bentz, whom he married on October 10, 1987 in Dearborn MI. They shared many lovely years together and shared a love of family and friends, especially their neighborhood friends on Berkley St. Their home was always open and inviting. Meeting and greeting new and old friends.
He loved seeing and catching up with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his four children, Kelly Bentz Moon, Kerry (Billy) Stevenson, Kevin Bentz, and Alex (Kiren Chaudhry) Bentz. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. His two sisters, Peggy (Ronnie) Little of Florida and Brenda (Matthew) Knizacky of Ludington, survive him, along with his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Victor and Michelle Moccia. He also deeply cherished his dear friends, The Gallaghers, Cousin Jennie, and Frank Gabriel.
We will miss his love for us, quick wit, humor, kindness and generosity. The impact on our life will not be forgotten. He has passed from our view and his voice silenced but our memories and love live on. We are thankful for God's grace and love for him. As Dennis would say "so, now what is the plan".
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
