James CRUM Obituary

CRUM,
James B."Jim"

August 1, 1941 ~
May 2, 2016

Jim passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, May 2.
Jim was born August 1, 1941 in Denver, Colorado. In 1944, Jim's family moved to Richland, WA where his father, Robert, worked at the Hanford Project. Jim graduated from Columbia High School in Richland ('59), Gonzaga University ('64) and Gonzaga Law School ('67). After law school, Jim served several years with the FBI as a Special Agent in Washington D.C.; San Antonio, Texas; San Francisco and Berkeley, California.
Following his tenure with the FBI, Jim returned to Spokane and served as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Spokane County. Jim was then appointed to Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington where he became Chief of the Criminal Division. At the time of his retirement in 1999, Jim had achieved the position of First Assistant U.S. Attorney.
Jim and his wife Camille (Holberg) retired to their home in Twin Lakes Village Golf Course (TLV), Idaho. At TLV, Jim struggled with his golf game but deeply enjoyed the pastime. He and Camille also enjoyed fishing and boating with their beloved dogs.
Jim is survived by his wife Camille; his daughters, Julie (Shawn Mohr) of Spokane, and Kathryn (Jim Hedrick) of Ruston, WA; grandchildren, Brandon Mohr, James "Dawson", Charlotte and Vivianne Hedrick. Jim is also survived by his brother Robert B. (Saundra Crum) of Medford, Oregon and nieces Sharon (Tim Reams), Joanne (Scott Baldwin) and nephew Rob Crum, with one grandniece and two grand nephews.
"It was a good life, great family, friends and fond memories."
Any memorial gifts may be made to the Special Olympics Foundation, Idaho. At Jim's request no formal service will be held.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to Hospice of North Idaho and especially Hospice House for the comfort and care they provided for all of us.

We have no words to convey our sympathy. Having worked (and played) closely with Jim for over a decade I was saddened to hear of his passing. In many ways, Jim was larger than life and seemed indestructible. He definitely made this world a better place. To Camille and the rest of the family we are sorry. I'm quite sure that somewhere, Jim is trying to get in just one more "nine holes."
