Belva Cargle Obituary

Belva Cargle of Merrillville, IN passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday February 21, 2017 at Methodist Hospital Northlake. She was born in Marlon, TX. She was affectionately known as the First Lady of Israel C.M.E. church from 1968-1987. She was also the First Lady of Gary and Chicago District's C.M.E. church. Her role as the First Lady kept her involved in various ministries of the local church. She was a member of Carter Memorial C.M.E. Church, National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa Inc. Beta Mu Chapter, Minister Spouses, President Emeritus of Michigan and Indiana Annual Conference Missionary Society. She was a teacher in the Gary Community School Corporation for over 30 years and more recently educating our youth, as an Intervention Specialist at Beveridge School. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved, devoted husband for 62 years,, Rev. Carrell K. Cargle, Sr.; loving mother of two sons Rev. Carrell K. (Belinda) Cargle, Jr. of Texas, Derrick R. (Beverly) Cargle of Illinois; one daughter Carla J. Cargle of Texas. She will be fondly remembered by her brothers Atty. Raymond Jordan and James Smith both of Texas, goddaughter Angela Sanchez, Spiritual daughter Kimberly Wayne; sisters-in-law Josie Alexander, Alma Buchanan, Helen Cargle, Virginia Cargle and Louise Cargle; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. All services will be held at Carter Memorial C.M.E. Church 649 W. 49th Avenue Gary, IN. Visitation will take place on Friday February 24, 2017 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00p.m. Ecumenical hour begins at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Willie B. Weaver will officiate the Celebration of Her Life at 2:00 p.m. Saturday February 25, 2017; Dr. David L. Bryant, eulogist and Bishop Sylvester Williams President Bishop of the 3rd Episcopal District special remarks.
