Jean and Family, I was so sorry to hear about Pat's passing! Even though I've had no contact with Pat since our days at Auburn, I have always remembered him as a person of faith, honesty and integrity. I as a friend was always very proud of Pat and his personal and career accomplishments. I prayed for him often related to his illness. May the peace that only God can bring be with you in your loss! I will certainly miss him!

What an Auburn Legacy, but a better Auburn and Family Man. I remember having dad drive me from Wetumpka to Auburn games when I was in Junior High and watching Sullivan to Beasley and later watching him coach at Auburn, TCU, and Samford. I live in Fort Worth, Texas and in the area for the last 40+ years and he is fondly remembered in the area. I go to church with the retired ticket sales and marketing manager for TCU and he said he is and was a great individual to work with and for. My familys prayers are with Jean and family. God Bless all of you and War Eagle.

Dear Family,
My heart goes out to you during your time of loss. I grew up in Gadsden and supported Auburn because of my fathers love for AU!
Pat was one of my heroes..I listened to or watched AU football games with my father every Saturday. When Pat was a freshman, we listened to the AU vs UA game..Pat & Terry Beasley put on a show..AU won..the future was bright! In 1975, I walked on at AU..then was a G.A. on Coach Dyes staff in 1984..where I met Pat, who was the color analyst for AU Football broadcasts..such a genuine & talented person!
In the 90s, I was coaching at a high school in north Alabama and Pat was the head coach at TCU and was the guest speaker at The Huntsville QB Club and, as usual, did a great job! The following day, The Huntsville Times did an entire front page article on Pat..chronicling his playing and coaching career..I mailed it to him at TCU. Several weeks later, I received a hand written card from Pat..thanking me for the article and asking how everything was going with my team and my family. I also had the opportunity to hear Pat speak at a coaching clinic in Montgomery in the late 90s..he said there are several decisions that will have huge impacts on our lives..
1) spiritual..determines our purpose & eternity,
2) education..lays the foundation for our lives,
3) marriage..determines our happiness & legacy,
4) attitude..Coach Jordans 7 Ds for success.
Pat loved The Lord, his family, Auburn University, his friends, his players and coaches, and the game of football! He was a man of honor and integrity who experienced much success, but yet remained humble and loyal to those who influenced him..he will be greatly missed! I pray that your strong faith and your many positive memories of Pat will give you strength today and in the days to come..bring you peace and encouragement..as his legacy lives on in each of you!
Sincerely,
Vance Roberson

This is a very sad day for not just Auburn football fans but for the entire state and nation. Pat Sullivan had an inner grace about him that was inspirational to all people, regardless of their football affiliations.

Indeed, Pat Sullivans faith and character served as an example to countless young people that extended far beyond his legacy as a coach and football player. I attended John Carroll High School and a portrait of Sullivan hung in the lobby, flanked by portraits of the Bishop and the Pope.

The images of the individuals in those other portraits have changed with ecclesiastical succession, but Sullivans portrait always remained. That seems fitting because Pat Sullivan provided a wonderful role model of what a faithful Christian and good citizen should aspire to be.

Requiescat in pace.

December 3, 2019

So sorry to hear the loss of Pat. He was a great ambassador for Auburn, a true Auburn Man that truly lived out the Auburn Creed. Thoughts and prayer to the Sullivan family.

December 3, 2019

My dad was on the board of trustees during Pat's student years, when I was just old enough to understand football, and Pat was and is one of my heroes. He lived his entire adult life in public and managed to have the same reputation for decency and humility at 69 that he'd had at 19. That's rare. He was a remarkable man and will be sorely missed by everyone who loved all the fine things he stood for. My Auburn jersey still bears the number seven and always will.
