Samuel L. Sullivan, Jr. Ph D, P. E., Captain US Army retd. Samuel L. Sullivan, Jr., passed away peacefully April 23, 2021. He was born May 25, 1935, in Port Lavaca, Texas, to Samuel L. Sam was an emeritus professor at Tulane University where he taught Chemical Engineering for almost four decades. He also served as Associate Dean of the School of Engineering. He was an emeritus member of the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board, past board chair, vice chair and secretary. Sam's passion for engineering and higher education led him to establish the Dr. Samuel Sullivan, Jr. 57 Scholarship for Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University. Sam enjoyed his work and followed the careers of many of his students. He took great pride in their achievements. Sam also enjoyed hunting and gardening, especially at his place in Mississippi. Sam is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his four children: Colleen Winkler (Robert), Charleen Dickson (Buddy). Suzanne Clark (Clarence), and Mark Sullivan (Roxanna); and by four grandsons: Christopher Audler, Aaron Rader, Clinton Clark, Samuel C. Sullivan, and two step-grandsons, Casey Clark and Linc Clark. Sam was an awesome mentor, role model and supporter to me! He was authentic, the real deal... I’ll never forget him and his dry sense of humor. See you later Sam! Troy ChemE ‘82
