I, too, count myself as one of those fortunate enough to have been one of his students (1966-1970.) So many memories of lessons, performances, and conversations . . . ; but I think what I have treasured most over all these many years is having been in his piano literature classes. He was such a consummate scholar and musician, and I will always be grateful for the way he informed my playing, my knowledge, and my way of understanding music. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Dear Guerry Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. A student of his during the 60s and 70s, I had the privilege to be in his classroom and studio. With high expectations, he challenged his students with both technical and musical inspiration. We all loved and respected Dr. Guerry. He was the best.
So sorry for your loss,

I came to LSU in 1966-1971. I was fortunate to have Dr Guerry as my piano professor. I will always be thankful for his excellent teaching, as well as his high expectations for each of us. One of my favorite memories was the two evenings of concerti he planned for his studio (playing all of the orchestral reductions with us.) Gatherings at home were lovely and we were graciously welcomed.
I,too, have his piano technic book that I treasure. Rest In Peace dear one.
My sincere condolences to all of the family.

Dear Mrs. Guerry, David, and Madeline,

I am so sorry for your loss. I was one of Dr. Guerry's many piano majors during 1982-1986. Words cannot express the debt of gratitude I owe him. I was deeply honored to be accepted into his studio. I thoroughly enjoyed his expert instruction, frequent trips to conferences and competitions, and the gracious studio parties at your house. I treasure the two books he wrote and the recordings of his own playing. He continued to correspond with me for as long as his health permitted. I received numerous letters and cards from him over the years. I would occasionally make trips to Baton Rouge to have lessons with him, long after my graduation from L.S.U. I also love the Spaghetti recipe Dr. Guerry inherited from his professor. Thank you so much Dr. Guerry for everything, and my sincere condolences to all the Guerry family.
