Betsy Lowe Carey, 69, of Forty Fort, passed away Monday, June 2, 2025, at her home.
She was born in Kingston on Oct. 26, 1955, and was the daughter of the late Melbourne "Red" and Doris Lauderbach Carey.
Betsy grew up in Dallas and graduated from Dallas High School. She worked at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital as a switchboard operator for the past 46 years. Betsy loved being part of a large family and knew everyone's birthday amongst her 14 siblings. She loved all her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings: Nancy DeForest, Doris "Sis" Stroud, Mollieann Calkins, Polly Bobersky and David Carey.
Betsy is survived by brothers: Michael Carey (Cheryl), of Dallas; John Carey (Marilyn), of Kingston; Bob Carey, of Noxen: and James Carey (Lee Ann), of Dallas; sisters: Jessie Fowler, of Milesburg; Lois Jane Kaminski, of Dallas; Susan Yudiski, of Dallas; Patti Lawley, of Dallas; and Robin Lunger (Carl) of Benton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. Future interment will be in Fern Knoll Cemetery, Dallas.

I am shocked and saddened to see that my old chum has passed away. Betsy already worked at the switchboard when I started there. She was always very helpful and kind, and I always enjoyed her company.
