Betty Baker was a dear friend whom I met in Peace Corps training in 1966. My name Betsy/hers Betty Catherine. Catherine, my mother´s name. We were born on the same Day-Dec 29/ same year-1943. It was fate that we should meet and travel together for decades. Now I am 82. She died too young. I miss her.

I'm So sad that Betty passed and didn't find out until now. We last spoke last September when I was moving from IN to VA. I met Betty in 1975 when we volunteered at the old Museum of African Art on Capitol Hill. We had a close friendship over the years until I moved to IN when calls became fewer in between. I'm devastated.
Is there a way I could contact her niece?

I'm adding a note to my previous post. I met Betty in 1992 when she was the U.S. Dept of Ed, OSEP project officer for a grant. We were good friends and corresponded often by email and from time to time by phone. I last heard from Betty in November. Like her other friends, I would appreciate any information about the circumstances of her passing. My email address is [email protected]. Peace, joy, and happiness to my good friend. Find some good restaurants for us in the next life.

Betty was my best friend in elementary school and then a spirited part of a best-friend-trio throughout those questing high school years. Together we explored her beloved Washington and talked about everything. Her senses of adventure and style were early inspirations, as were her kindness and social conscience in later years. Though I deeply grieve her death, I hope memories of our long friendship will someday bring a smileor even a chuckle.

I am stunned and saddened to hear of the death of my dear friend Betty Baker. Having not been able to reach her for the last few weeks. (Home phone, cell, e-mai) I became concerned today when her phone was disconnected. My husband suggested we google her and we found the obituary.
We met in the PeaceCorps and were friends and travel buddies for 54 years ( 1966).
Our birthdays are the same day, Dec. 29, the same year, 1943. This made us soul mates forever.
I am eager to know what happened to her in her last days. Please call me at 773-909-4729 if you have that information.
Thank you. I miss her greatly.
