I recently worked with Steve Dunn and his staff when my mother passed away. The staff were friendly, compassionate, kind, and professional from start to finish. I never felt rushed. They definitely took our feelings and emotions seriously and that was very much appreciated.

My tenant passed away and was taken to Forest Meadows. He had no next of kin. The office manager, Karen, was unbelievably rude and uncooperative when I tried to get information so I could properly dispose of his things. This really is one business where nasty rude people are not to be tolerated. When I finally got past this Karen woman and spoke to a funeral director, I was at least treated courteously and I was given the information I needed. But I would avoid this place: rude, unprofessional, unaccommodating. The last thing you need when dealing with death, for goodness sake!

They were disrespectful and not professional at dealing with my concerns. Asked if I could view my Moms body was told NO, we need to know what your plans are. Asked how much a cremation was, cost was over $3000, then told her I didn’t have that kind of money up front, she told me that I should do whatever it took to take care of my mom, come hell or high water! It was just about the money! Then she said she was going to send her body to the County, then I find out she is married to the guy that runs the place. I have never been treated so badly by a funeral home!

Do not use this funeral home. Please trust me on this because I lost my husband 15 months earlier and the funeral home I used in Lake County was excellent compared to this one. There are many others to choose from. When we had my father's funeral on a Sunday in March and came in early to see our dad, it was not good. The lighting was awful and caused orange lines and circles around his eyes and neck. They adjusted the lighting but it still was not good.They forgot to hide the plastic that was visible below his neck and we asked what that was. That's where the incision was he said. I'm not making this up. I have witnesses. For all the money we paid, it was very disappointing. They didn't even trim the hair on my dad's ears and trim his sideburns when we asked for this ahead of time while we made funeral arrangements in their office. I feel the men that work here who have been there for awhile have become complacent. They have forgotten how sensitive this time is for family. Plus isn't a funeral supposed to hand out the programs we paid them a lot of money for? We realized at the graveside hardly anyone got a program at the funeral home where we had the service.
