William Andrew "Andy" Meade

MEADE, William Andrew "Andy" - Of Flint , age 67 , died Monday, October 11, 2010 at his residence. Funeral service will be held 1p.m. Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Jeff Switzer officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #822 Honor Guard. Contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Visitation 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service. Andy was born in Arkansas on March 8, 1943, and was a resident of Flint all of his life. He graduated from Genesee High School, Class of 1961. Andy was a member of the Burton Eagles Aerie 3814, and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2344. Andy was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. Andy served in the National Guard, 46 th Military Police. He was employed with GM Chevrolet V8 Engine Plant for 37 years, retiring in 2001 and was a member of UAW Local #659. Surviving are daughter, Tonya and husband Brian Greenfield; four grandchildren, Lindsey, Tony, Joseph and Destiny; stepson, Cary Harbaugh; brother, Bobby Mead; sister, Reva Kay Sawyer; brother, Ken and wife Sylvia Mead, brother, Mike and wife Valerie Mead; uncle Roy and wife Imogene Meade; aunt, Ruth White; several nieces and nephews; three special friends, Harvey Young, Rich Schlegelmilch and Dave Hicks. He was preceded in death by parents, Jess and Reva, brother-in-law, Larry Sawyer, special friend, Bill Ford and many aunts and uncles.
