Travis C. Barron Sr., 83, of Meridian- ville passed away on Wednesday at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Lakewood Baptist Church with Pastor Terrell Boyd officiating. Mr. Barron will lie in repose at the church from noon until 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on from 4 to 7 p.m. to today at Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville.
Mr. Barron was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Flossie Parris Barron. He was a 1946 graduate of Meek High School in Arley. Mr. Barron served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a proud graduate of Auburn University with a degree in electrical engineering. Mr. Barron worked for NASA, taking part in the Saturn 5 Rocket Project. He later worked for the federal government in the Ballistic Missile Defense Systems, where he later retired. Mr. Barron also worked for CAS Inc. for around 10 years before retiring for the last time.
Mr. Barron is survived by his wife, Maudine Johnson Barron of Meridianville; his children, Nancy Sims of Hazel Green, Travis C. Barron Jr. of Meridianville and Bill Barron and wife Kathy of Huntsville; his brother, J.D. Barron of Arab; his sister, Renee Cleghorn of Arley; his grandchildren, Brandon Sisk and Travis Barron III; and his great-grandchild, Breanna Barron.
