Frances Lindstrom

LINDSTROM (DICK), MRS. FRANCES J. North Muskegon Frances J. (Dick) Lindstrom died peacefully on November 4th at Seminole Shores Living Center. She was born to Merle and Hazel Dick on March 2, 1925 in Webster City, Iowa. She graduated from Stanhope High School in 1942 and attended Stephens College in Springfield, MO. She then received her BA in Communications from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. An adventurous soul, she moved to Muskegon along with her college roommate to work at WKBZ radio, at which she served as Station Manager. Lindstrom Pharmacy, several doors down from the station, was where she met the love of her life, Bob Lindstrom. They married in 1947 and raised three children, Bruce Lindstrom of Muskegon, Sue Chapla (Bob) of Grand Rapids and Jane Doner (David) of Ann Arbor. She is also survived by her nephew Robert Gilmore, four grandchildren; Brandon Doner, Michael Phalen (Michelle), Courtney Kinney (Joe) and Lindsey Rood (David), and one very special great granddaughter, Phalen Rood. World traveler, theater enthusiast, lover of the symphony, she filled the years following Bob's death in 1981 with a multitude of jaunts across the globe. Israel and Africa were among the highlights of her journeys. In addition, she made annual pilgrimages to New York City to attend plays as well as enjoy the art and musical theater scene the big city had to offer. With such artistic interests, Muskegon's cultural offerings always provided her great joy. By life example, she taught her children to be independent thinkers and to follow their own path. The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care she received from the staff at Seminole Shores. A celebration of her life will be held at the Lake House in Muskegon on December 22nd from 2pm to 4pm.
