Albert A. Chelkis

Albert A. Chelkis, 93, of Monroeville, died Thursday, July 28, 2016. He was the beloved husband of the late Irene (Kopko) Chelkis; father of Judith Gadrix, Allen Chelkis (JoAnn) and Gregory Chelkis (Toni); and is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He retired from Westinghouse Electric in East Pittsburgh with 43 years of service. He was a youth center director at the Salvation Army in Braddock for 15 years, and also served on their advisory board. Albert served in the Army Air Force during World War II in the 674th Bombardment Squadron and the 417th Bombardment Group. The family would like to thank the Allegheny Health Network Hospice Inpatient Unit for their compassionate care.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the GENE H. CORL INC. FUNERAL CHAPEL AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike, 412-372-2100. Panachida service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday. Parting prayers will be at 9:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2016. Divine Liturgy will be at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection, 455 Center Road, Monroeville, with Father Donald Bolls and Father Joseph Raptosh as celebrants. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park.
