Frank Albrecht Obituary

Frank E. Albrecht III RIEGELSVILLE Frank Edwin Albrecht III, age 84, died Sunday, April 1, 2018, at St. Luke's Anderson Hospital. Born Oct. 5, 1933, in Manchester, NH, Frank was the son of the late Frank and Edyth (Brunell) Albrecht. He was married for 39 years to his loving wife, Elaine Clemens (Kern), of Riegelsville, PA. After college Frank worked as a technician for an x-ray survey company on a mobile x-ray unit touring Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Ohio for 10 years. He settled in Bethlehem and worked for Laros Printing Company as a cost accountant, in payroll, and as personnel director. He did art work for Disney World and designed coupon art-work books. After 25 years at Laros, he did cost accounting for several printing companies in the area. He retired from the Pennridge School System in 1996 having been employed in the custodial department. Frank was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riegelsville, the Riegelsville Fire Company, served several years for the Riegelsville Auxiliary Police, and was on the Riegelsville Union Cemetery Board. He was a member of John Rivers VFW Post 11322, Quakertown, Durham Historical Society, Williams Twp. Historical Society, USS San Juan Shipmates, associate member of the 164th Division and the 78th Division, and member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 950. He was a supporter of "Their Brother's Keeper" sleeping bag project for the Allentown Rescue Mission, an advocate of veterans by mailing supplies to troops in Iran and Afghanistan, and researched and assembled historical displays for local schools and libraries. He supplied files of veterans for the U.S. Historical Military Museum in Carlisle, PA. Frank donated family historical items to museums and historical societies in New England, New Jersey, and the National Museum of the Pacific War in Texas. He was a past volunteer for Lifeline counseling. He designed and received a U.S. patent for an emergency entrance tool for first responders. He was a rifle and pistol marksman for most of his life. Frank was chosen by Senator Byrd of Virginia to be a pageboy in the U.S. Senate. His hobby was putting a veterans display in the Riegelsville Post Office for Memorial Day and Veterans Day. He was an active member of Surprise Group AA, serving as treasurer. Frank related how he survived three near-fatal accidents on commercial air flights over the years. He was responsible for saving the life of a drowning young man and also helped save two boaters at Lake Nockamixon when their boat overturned. Frank and his wife, Elaine, enjoyed vacations on the coast of Maine and New Jersey. He enjoyed photography and entered many competitions in his life. He was an active letter writer to The Express-Times. Frank possessed a vivid sense of humor and made "trophies" for his friends, at times insulting the recipient with humor. His epitaph reads: "Born in New Hampshire, educated in the real world; so now I celebrate a new life, goodbye, and live a good giving life." He is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughter, Summer of Bethlehem; stepson, Kevin of Allentown, and sister-in-law, Dr. Ellen Clemens of Riegelsville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Center for Animal Health & Welfare, 1165 Island Park Rd., Easton, PA 18042 or the Children's Home, 2000 S. 25th St., Easton, PA 18042.
