Elaine M. Albrecht, 66, of Alton, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

She was born in Staunton, IL, on December 24, 1959, the daughter of Adolph H. and Phyllis J. (Rutherford) Albrecht.

Elaine is a 1978 graduate of Staunton High School. She began working as a billing clerk in 1979 at Alton Memorial Hospital for a number of years. For the majority of her career, she helped run Captain Jim's Fireworks. More recently, she worked for Illinois Central School Bus as a bus monitor for the Alton school district. Elaine was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. She enjoyed taking trips to Hawaii, going out making friends and talking to different people as she never knew a stranger. Most of all, Elaine loved spending time with family, friends, and her dogs.

Survivors include her sisters, Rhonda Albrecht of East Alton, and Tricia (Mark) Mosby of Bethalto; a niece, Kara Mosby; and a nephew, Justin Mosby.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her companion, James E. Meyers, Sr.

Cremation rites will be accorded by Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Private inurnment will take place at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Edwardsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Leukemia Foundation, American Heart Association, Humane Society and/or the funeral home for final expenses.
