Kathryn Welsh Obituary

KATHRYN WELSH
1934 ˜ 2018

Kathryn Welsh, ”Kitty”, passed away on October 15, 2018 at age 84 after a long bout with metastatic breast cancer. Her loving family was by her side. Kitty was born in Northfield, VT in 1934.
In her 20’s, she married and gave birth to her only child, Tracy. She was active in many civic, church, school and charitable organizations throughout her life.
She later married Paul Welsh, who she referred to as “the love of her life”. After Paul passed, she moved from NC to Vancouver, WA to be near Tracy and her family. Kitty will always be known as having a philanthropic spirit, being extremely generous and having a great, some may say, unique, sense of humor.
She is survived by Tracy Packard (Jimmy); two grandsons, Zack and Michael Packard; and one great-granddaughter, Beaux.
As per Kitty’s request there will be no service.
Donations in her name may be made to AAUW, Dove Lewis or Clark College Foundation.

In addition to a great loss for our community, Kitty's passing is also a great personal loss for me. She was a friend and fellow bridge player for many years. I recognize the photo in her obituary, because I took it several years ago after a lunch at Ruby Tuesday's. I will miss Kitty's companionship and wry sense of humor. I am so glad I was in the group that took her to lunch in August. We all had a good time. It's very hard to imagine that there won't be another lunch like that down the road. I will dearly miss her stories.

My condolences to all of Kitty's family. Kitty's generosity has allowed the Vancouver Branch of AAUW (through the Community Foundation of Southwest Washington https://www.cfsww.org/) to give several substantial scholarships). Her legacy will continue. Thank you Kitty!
