Used to horseback ride with Miss Connie! She had a black walking horse stallion. She was so happy and fun to be with! I was a kid and all I remember was how nice she was to me. Such a wonderful lady!

Connie was such a gritty spirit. I fist met her at the world Gallery and was surprised to see art that was edgy and confrontational at times. Later, I would curate a show in the Gallery. Cornrows, Tamales, Tomahawks, Fortune Cookies and White Bread. A Celebration of Diversity April 10-May 18th 1991. Seems such a longtime ago. But I remember it so vividly. Connie took risks and I loved her for that. I remember buying some of her really dark paintings. A man being operated on, A dog hit by a car, and A woman alone looking distressed. Thye seemed to say this is real life and it is not always pretty. They are some of my favorites and a symbol of Connie being able to paint even that that might repel some in the audience. She would want us to celebrate!

Mike, heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. Losing your mom is a tough one, but we know she will always live on on your heart.

My oldest cousin, i only remember seeing her once, when I was about 7. She was holding baby Michael. I only found out a few years ago what a talented, fascinating woman she was. Thank goodness I did get to visit her studio with other cousins, and visit with them all again a year later. I only wish I could have known her longer and better. We are all poorer without her.

First memory would be family reunions and she was older beautiful cousin. Most recent memory was our cousin reunion last year in which we got to celebrate all her life successes with her.

I'll always cherish her watercolor of Calamity Jane that Connie gave to me.
