Terence Lynch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 13, 2001.
For 15 years until 1997, Terry Lynch served as a top aide to U.S. Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.), the ranking Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee, a key watchdog in the nation's battle against terrorism.

On Tuesday, Lynch, 49, who now works for the consulting firm of Booz Allen & Hamilton, was meeting at the Pentagon with a three-star general about military manpower, his company said.

"Terry was a good father and husband, a valued employee," Shelby said in a statement, "and he was a great American."

First off, thank you Terry for your many years of service to our country and I am sure that a lot of the work you did has helped make us a safer country since this tragedy. I pray for your friends and family that time has helped ease some of the hurt and pain they have suffered in your loss. With much love and respect from Texas,

I met Terry's daughter Tiffany on August 21, 2001, in Paris. I was with her during the days she was stuck in France, unable to get a flight back to the US. I lost touch with her soon after, but even though I knew her for so little time, I think of her often. At this time of year, my heart goes out to the Lynch family, and I wish them the best.

Terry--its been 6 years since that awful morning, but I still think of you as being somewhere over on the other side of the Capitol, always ready to answer a question or give good advice--a lively presence and a friend.

I remember Terry during his years in the Senate. Our bosses were both on the Armed Services Committee. His sharp mind, ready smile, and willingness to help a new guy from the other side of the aisle remain will never be forgotten.

I was fortunate enough to meet Mr. Lynch. He was my tee ball coach my first year playing. He was such a wonderful man and even to such young children he made a lasting impression. He was always a very fun, loving, and encouraging person. He will be missed by many people, but never forgotten.

PLEASE READ THIS:

My name is Andrea, I am a 14 year old student at St. Agnes Academy in Houston, TX. Today we had our One-year Sept. 11 Ceremony and every girl(it's an all-girl school) got an orange hospital bracelet with the name of one the 9/11 victims on it. I have a bracelet with Mr. Terence Lynch's name on it. And I think this is the man. If one of his family members or someone who knows him gets this, please write to [email protected], because I am praying very much for him and all of you.

Terry touched everyone he ever knew in such magical and special ways. He always went out of his way to say something nice and kind. I will always remember his kindness. His intense love for his wife and family will never be forgotten. My heart aches for his family.

I didn't know Terry or the other two Booz Allen employees that died at the Pentagon, but my ex-husband (a dear friend and my daughter's wonderful Daddy) worked for Booz Allen a few years ago. He used to brief generals about various things, too. I plan to give Jay an enormous hug the next time I see him.

I'm so sorry this man was lost.

We are very sorry for your loss of Terry. May warm memories of times together lighten the sorrow in your hearts. Our hearts cry with you.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

Terry Lynch was our next door neighbor in Youngstown where he grew up. I remember the Lynch family very well, and our family was horrified to learn of this loss. I was too young to really know Terry, but I remember him shooting hoops in the driveway.
