Heather Lee Smith of Boston, a real estate investment analyst with Beacon Capital Partners, died Sept. 11 in the terrorist attack. She was 30.
Ms. Smith was a passenger aboard American Airlines Flight 11.
Born in Long Beach, Calif., she attended the University of Portland in Oregon and graduated from California State University at Fullerton.
She was affiliated with Koll Management Services and Koll Bren Schreiber before joining Beacon Capital Partners.
She had been at Beacon Capital for just eight weeks. "Heather Smith was a young and gifted financial analyst starting out on a highly promising career," Beacon's chief executive, Alan M. Leventhal, said last week.
She leaves her parents, George and Judy Smith of Farmington, Conn.; a brother, Chad, of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; and her fiance, Michael Jammen of Boston.
A memorial Mass was said on Sept. 17.

We visited the 9/11 memorial a few weekends ago; and I had my boys take a moment to think of the people behind the names inscribed. Looking back at photos we paused for many moments in front of Heather Lee Smiths name. Just wanted to stop by here and let her family know we are thinking of her, of you, and won´t forget what happened that day. Sending love and prayers

Heather was my Asset Manager when I started in the RE Industry in NYC back in year 2000. It was a pleasure working with her and her Boss Charlie Valentino. I miss her dearly and trust we will meet again at HQ one day.

Dear George and Judy:
Didn't have the privilege of knowing Heather, but love the memories of her through her parents,George and Judy at our house. Loved being able to share memories with you, thanks to my daughter and son-in-law Jim and Kris. Loved knowing you (thank you for the beautiful flowers you always brought to us). Wish we could still have contact with both of you. Share your continuing sadness, here in Maine.

I am very sorry for your loss. Heather sounds like she was a remarkable lady! I choose Heather to write about for my school project. We had to do a memorial about someone who died in 09/11. Her story touched me when I read it. I look forward to sharing her story with my teacher and classmates. My prayers are with you and your family.

It's interesting that Heather and I had so many similarities, like being born in Long Beach around the same time, living in Laguna Niguel and going to Cal.State Fullerton, yet I never met her.I just happend to run across her tribute. I wish I had met her. 3 years later, my first daughter was born on September 11th. I'd like to think she will carry people like Heather's memory with her through out her life. God Bless you Heather and your family. Rest in Peace.

Heather lived next door to us and was my best friend when I was little. My mom found a picture of us around Jake's stroller one day when she came to visit. I remember her pretty face and ponytails with yarn tied around them. And laughing. All the time, laughing.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

Dearest George & Judy: your loss of Heather is our loss. You are our most treasured friends and we grieve as you do. We have known Heather for years thru you, and had just started to know her on her own. Like you, she was the purest heart & soul we have ever been priviledged to know. A piece of our hearts are with her, forever. And our hearts and love are with you, always.
