I was Pat's Commanding Officer when he was part of the Naval Control of Shipping Naval Reserve Unit, Navy Reserve Center, Forest Park, ILL. in the late 1990's. A terrific and dedicated Navy Officer with a wonderful family. My thoughts and prayers are with Pat and his family. God Bless.

Murphy was my Division Officer on the USS Sandlance. He ordered me to read "The Little Prince", one day underway. He was always very kind, extremely smart, and very humble. He was a great loss to this life. My condolences to his wife and family.

I graduated from the Universiry of Mississippi with Pat. Tomorrow I am retiring from the US Navy. I'm dedicating my ceremony to the memory of a dear friend who was such a great person and always an out of the box thinker; Pat was an inclusive person. He was fun to be around. Thank you Pat for your service, I will never forget your sacrifice.

Our Dearest Friend. We will always have our memories of our college days at Ole Miss! Pat was a dedicated person who worked hard in college as well as in the Navy. He was a very close friend to my husband and he was a dear friend to me. We miss him so. I pray for his wife, Mako, that she will seek strength and faith from God. Pat will always be in our hearts until that great day when we will see him again.
Love,

Many years ago, PatMurphy escorted me down the aisle, where we were both honored to stand up for our friends (Kathy & Kenn) as they married. It was the only time I met him. When Kathy told me he had been a victim of the terrorist attack, I was quite taken aback. For them, because I know they were still very close to Pat and his family, and for myself because now, someone I knew, however briefly, had been a victim of 9/11. Is anyone UNtouched by what has happened? By the 6 degrees of separation, do we all know someone, even if we only met them once?
Pat Murphy's family is in our prayers.

I made a quilt square for a memory quilt with Pat's name on it, and was proud to do so. I did not know him, but He sounds like he was a wondeful man and father. I'm sure he will be missed. And he will not be forgotten-ever, even by those of us who did not have the honor of knowing him.

To the Family of Patrick Murphy,
Although I do not know you at all, my deepest sympathies to you. I'm not sure if you have heard that the Billy Graham Assoc. came up with Mercy B.A.N.D.s (it stands for Bearing Anothers Name Daily). It is to serve as a daily reminder to us to pray for the families of the victims of 9/11 and specifically the individuals family members whose name is engraved on my bracelet. I received one and it happens that Patricks name was on it. I wanted to know more about him and his family and so here I am. I too served in the Navy and found it interesting that without any knowledge of this I received a Naval Officers name. I am also originally from the New Jersey area but now live in Minnesota with my family. I would love to know more about him and his wife and children - any response would be appreciated if you feel it is appropriate. Just know that your family will be in our thoughts and prayers on a daily and name basis.
God Bless you.

We are deeply sorry for your great loss of Patrick. May his life and love live on in all who love him. May warm memories of times together lighten the sorrow in your hearts. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

Masako,
I am so sorry for you and your children. I remember what beautiful little boys you have and think of how much they will miss their father. I remember how Pat used to walk your black dog on our street and what a nice time we had at our block parties on Seminary. My heart aches for you and for all the families who have lost loved ones. I will remember you in my prayers. Bill and Donna Kearns
