December 27, 2016
In 2016 I climbed the stairs in honor of Joe Sr. at the 911 memorial stair climb at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. It was an honor for me that I'll NEVER FORGET. I have the plastic badge I carried on that climb on my desk and I'm looking at it right now.
That climb and the thoughts of Joe inspired me. Since that climb I have been doing a stair climb as part of my routine exercise program. My goal is to climb the equivalent of the height of Mount Everest. I will be carrying Joe's picture with me when I take the final step. - Joe you will always be with me in my heart. I will never forget. see you at the top of my climb.

Every 9/11, in honor and in memory, I wear two silver bracelets. One has Mr. Angelini, Sr.'s name on it and the other his son, Mr. Angelini, Jr. My Italian father was very sad that a father and son perished that day and selected these bracelets for me in memory of them. I will never forget them or that day. God bless the Angelini men and their heroic actions on that day. God bless the Angelini family and the United State of America.

Joe and I went to High school together. We were the closest of friends. We started riding our bicycles around Long Island for weeks at a time. Sometimes Emma would join us. Those were some great trips even though our parents worried it was well worth the great experience and confidence it gave us. Joe saved my life one time when I was cuaght on a cliff while we were hiking upstate New York. He saved me with a stick that he reached out to me. I kept that stick on my dash board for years. Joe eventually convinced me to ride bicycles together to los Angeles from New York. I thought he was crazy but I wanted to travel with him because we got along so good. That was the best three months of my life. I have an awesome photo album that I show to all of my friends while telling stories of our trip. I still think of Joe all the time and all though I haven't met his new family since we lost touch over the years. I would really like to meet them someday. My thought and prayers are with you Joe and all of your family and friends who love you so much. I won't ever forget you.

My son and I visited the twin tower site in October 2008. We toured the memorabilia building and purchased one of the little felt bags that had a bracelet inside with a fallen ones name on it, it was Joseph J. Angelini Sr. We are proud to take turns wearing the bracelet in his honor.

I had first seen Mr. Angelini in an episode of the tv show the Bravest many years ago. When I saw him and the work he did, even at his age being in one of the toughest and most elite positions in the FDNY, I was in aw of this man. He is a firefighter that I could tell many looked up to and tried to be like. I have read some stories about him that inspire me. I am a volunteer for 6 years now hoping to make a career of firefighting. It is the best job in the world that I knew I wanted to be a part of since I was 3 yrs old. Every time I go to work, I strive to be the best I can be. I want to become a GREAT firefighter and Person that Mr. Angelini is! Even though I never met him, He is an Inspiration to me as a firefighter and a person every single day.

2 years ago God blessed us with a 5 year old little boy who needed a home. In his room hangs posters of Spiderman, Superman, and 2 pictures of Joseph Angelini Sr. The pictures are printed from the Res1cue Web page, and are as clear as I could get them. I never met Mr. Angelini but have heard many things about him from 2 of my friends who work for FDNY EMS and Communications. I wanted my little Boy to know what a true Hero is and could not think of a better Hero than Joe.

I met Joe Sr in 1980. I was a member of Rescue 1 about three years at the time. Joe walks in the door. I thought he was a Deputy Chief by his age. Then he started to speak and I knew he was one of us. He had twenty years in 1 Truck at the time. He said he always wanted to come to Rescue 1 , but never told anybody...that was Joey. Faithfull and Fearless, a gentleman, a honor to have worked with. A man small in stature but a GIANT in courage and humanity. I think of Joe quite often and when I get "down" and need a quick boost I remember what he always said: " All we need is a good 'job' and everything will be OK" They broke the mold when Joey left.

For about 12 months before 911 I visited my sister many times usually early in the morning, she lives at Riverbank West just down from the Firehouse on 43rd Street. I went to pick her up as my mother was sick and we were moving her to a new location. I would wait for my sister usually by the firehouse because everybody likes to watch the activity. I was always amazed when I saw Joe Sr. because of the energy he had. I hope to have half that energy at his age. While waiting I would somtimes say "How's it going" and he would say ok or good, not much really but I always had the feeling that this guy really likes his job, and that makes him really lucky. I guess I didn't have alot of contact with him but I will always remember him and the quick way that he moved around.God speed.

god bless the work you both did
Jo Braunstein
November 2, 2006
My name is Jo Braunstein and I just returned the documentary of 911, and again, after watching everything on TV, this brought back the memories so vividly of that day.
The courage of these men, the honor, the sincerity, the sensitivity, the caring, the sweetness, and the caring of their brothers, as they are indeed brothers, taking care of each other and our world.
It isn't fair, that they should have died...when all they did was go to help others.
I believe this day made Americans' come to focus on the vulnerability of our country...let's just hope that everyone doesn't become lazy...
this would be an injustise to all the passed away on 9/11. I shall never forget that day...it brought memories of my brother Stan and his wife Sandy...that died in the Ceritos crash on Aug. 31, 1986.
The families are crushed...they will carry this burden in their hearts forever..there will be no days that they will forget what happen...so let us see to it...that we don't forget them...and what happened on that day...and could happen again. I was booked on the American flight in London to leave Heathrow, and land in NY. I could have been one of the statistics..like 911.
May you all rest in peace knowing your spirits will be with us..and may you know that we will carry you in our hearts. My birthday was Sept. 15th, four days after...and I still can not celebrate. God bless you all...and most of all...God take care of these brave mens families...don't let them be deprived of anything.
I think about you all constantly, and hope our sons and friends in Iraq can make a difference in these terrorist. I am honored to sign your book.

I had the pleasure of meeting the Angelini family in the early 80's and I knew then that they were special, and that Joe Sr. was loved and adored by all of them. I don't know what made me start reading stories about him today, but I am overwhelmed by the life that this man led. He wasn't just a hero on 9-11, his humble integrity, love for his family, and service to his community made him a hero everyday of his life.

Although the names are a mere coincindence for one moment in time I though it was my uncle was the one lost, so for a moment I felt the fear and terror that your entire family has to deal with every day, for that I am truly sorry and will think of your family as if it were my own. To the Angelini family: you have been in our hearts this last year. Though I knew Joe Sr only through stories, he stands out in my memory. On February 11, 1999 my late husband, retired Fireman Francis X. Drew of Tower Ladder 1 died after a long battle with cancer. I can only imagine him greeting his brother firefighters on September 11, 2001 as they joined him in heaven. The joy of their reunion must have been mingled with sorrow at the circumstances. Our twins, now age 17, have been taught many life lessons from NYC's Bravest: enjoy each day, love your work, & do what is right. We could not ask for better role models. I have found we cannot "get over" the deaths of our loved ones; instead, we learn to live with them in different ways, & not to forget. Our very best wishes for you all. Marion, Jess & Jim.

To the family of Joseph Angelini Sr. I watched a special(right after 9.11) featuring NYC firefighters Mr. Angelini was one of the firefighters interviewed and for some reason he caught my attention, it was later told he had went to the WTC. After watching I couldn't get him off my mind and I went online to find out more about him, I found his picture on the FDNY website, I printed it and have carried it in my wallet since, now I am reminded everyday of all the hereos. I am now waiting for my 9.11 bracelet which I ordered with his name and will wear with pride in his memory.
I know nothing can change what happened and only time will ease your pain but I hope you can get comfort from those who will never forget his courage and will keep him and his sons name alive.

I had the pleasure and honor of meeting and riding with Joe Angelini Sr. on R-1 a few years back. When my children ask about the bracelet I now wear(and will never take off), I will tell them about one of NYFD's best. I am truly blessed to be a friend of Mary Angelini, the daughter of Joe Angelini Sr. and the sister of Joe Angelini Jr. I don't even know where to begin in trying to extend my sincerest condolences to her and her family. The Angelini’s are an amazing family. They are all civil servants, doing their part in making the world a better place to live. Mary gets her inner strength and values from her supportive family. It is clear that she has always been inspired by her kin to make a difference in this conflicted civilization. Mary has been working for a non-governmental agency in Abuja, Africa promoting democracy. The loss of her father and brother has only fortified her convictions; she is a true testament to the resilience of the human spirit. She has since returned to Africa and is continuing to follow her passion, international diplomacy. Both Joseph Angelini’s were made up of the same beliefs and fervor. They were family men who died as brave heroes for their country.
We owe our respect to all the Firemen and Policemen of New York City. May God bless you all for your courage. The world will always honor you and will never forget your heroism. My heart goes out to all the families who have suffered as a result of 9/11. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
All my love, Marilyn
“...I ride as a guardian of the night, toward the far away glow
Of my destiny, dauntless, duty bound,
Endeavoring to a life fully-lived within the grasp of mortality.
And when my watch is over; when my tour is ended
And I am finally called home
To the embrace of my gentle guardian, I will ride again.
Racing through the heavens, oh so swiftly
For I will ride there in glory,
With angels’ escort, aboard a screaming red chariot of honor.”
- Lt. Robert E. Higgins, FDNY
P.S. I'll never forget the time Mary's father drove her home in his fire truck and helped her get into our apartment on 88th Street when she was locked out. :) He was such a dedicated loving father and grandfather. Mary was one of many children in her family who was the apple of his eye. He loves you all so much. May he rest in peace...

My husband just received two of the 9-11 bracelets, the one he gave me had Joseph J Angelini Jr. with the paper that came with the bracelet we looked up this site. We didn't realize Father and Son left this world together. My husband is a FF EMT in our city, on 9-11 he came to my job and was in tears as he witnessed on the tv what had taken place in NY, he told me, "it could have been me, If I had been working there, I would have been one of the first ones in." Our heart breaks for all of the familys, we keep you in our prayers and thoughts daily. I were Joseph J Angelini Jr's 9-11 Bracelet with pride. May God give you peace in your hearts and know one day you will meet your loved ones again. God Bless you all.

Dear The Angelini Famly-
I am a friend of Mary Angelini, sister and daughter of Joe Jr. and Joe Sr. Mary and I used to walk to Lindenhurst H.S. every morning and afternoon. I had lost touch with her over the years, but bumped into her again at Columbia University in 1999. It was good to catch up with her. When I heard about a family that lost both their father and son I couldn't believe it was Mary's family. She always spoke so highly of her family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all of you.

We are extremely sorry for our nation's loss of Joseph Sr. and Joseph Jr. We thank them tremendously for devoting their lives to protecting, saving and caring for others as firefighters. Such a deep devotion for mankind comes with brave, warm and caring hearts. May their strength, courage, life and love continue living in those who love them and in those who have been touched by their lives. I know they have touched the lives of Americans and a part of them has become a part of each of us. May you always feel the warmth of their love surround you. May the memories of yesterday be lighten the sorrow in your hearts. Our hearts cry deeply in America's loss of brave heroes like Joseph Sr and Joseph Jr.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

I feel enormously honored to have had the chance to know Joe. He was a true gentleman. While he was a man of few words, he always let you know how much he enjoyed being a firefighter.
