Lisa Egan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 29, 2001.
Sisters, Always Together
Lisa, right, and Samantha Egan, sisters and co- workers, did most things together: playing sports, visiting their parents on Long Island, collaborating on a Mother's Day gift. This year, they gave their mother, Elizabeth, a photo album of their moments together.

When Lisa, 31, heard there were jobs available at Cantor Fitzgerald, where she had worked for four years as a human resources manager, she suggested that Samantha, 24, apply. About seven months ago, Samantha started working steps away from Lisa.

And so their father, David, says he knows that in the minutes after the plane hit their tower, Lisa and Samantha were together. "They would have been seeking one another immediately," he said from his home in Rocky Point, N.Y. "It would have been the first thing in their minds. 'Where is Samantha?' Lisa would have said. 'Where is Lisa?' Samantha would have thought. I know they are together."

Lisa, the oldest of three, had a master's degree in psychology and was looking for another job. Samantha, who had gone back to college, planned to finish school and find work that would tap her business experience and her interest in charitable work.

"My girls," Mr. Egan said, "were outgoing, bright, articulate, giving, loving, caring. Not just my flesh and blood."

My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Egan family. What an unimaginable loss. No doubt there is joy still found in the memories of times shared and love exchanged. May the Lord richly bless those they loved with peace and comfort. And may Lisa and Samantha forever rest in peace together. You are remembered and your lives celebrated. Always

Sorry to be late visiting but yesterday was a difficult day. Always in our hearts and there is still an empty chair for you and your sister. Bed Bath and Beyond was never the same when you left for Cantor - Fitzgerald. The world was never the same after the terrorists took you two.

I am also a Lisa Egan. My thoughts and prayers go out to your Egan family for your loss of Lisa and Samantha. They sound like amazing women and loving sisters. I too was in the center of 911 as I flew in early on 9/11 to the Washington DC area for a 4 day meeting. I could not contact my husband for a few hours to let him know I was OK. I have thought of your Lisa over the years and today felt I wanted you to know.

The world was so much better with you in it. It pains me to think of all the amazing things the two of you would have accomplished. I'm sure Lisa has got the Angels playing pick up games of basketball with her and Sam I imagine has many conversations with God about her philanthropic projects "God we really need to talk about the plight of "insert cause here." I know we can do something to fix this....."

I finally had the courage to visit the memorial while I was in NYC a few moths ago. As I stood and wept I was taken by how many people wanted to console me in my obvious grief. This event was a blow to humanity and it's gives me hope that people appreciate a solemn place to mourn our lost love ones. God bless you. I will see you again I know that

Tears always comes to my eyes as I look as these beautiful girls. I pray for an extra measure of God's grace this week as we approach Mother's Day and I think of the Moms who have lost a child. To have lost TWO seems unbearable. Hugs to all of the friends and family who still carry this tragic loss with them to this day. Much love from Texas

September 14, 2015

I visit the legacy site each day to honor the memory of loved ones lost that day. Each time I am reminded of this beautiful picture of these two sisters. Back in 2002, I bought mercy bands with their names on them to give to my young daughters, to try and explain this horrific day to them. Each year as September 11 rolls again, I am reminded of the losses suffered that day and the many families who were changed in an instant on that day. I strive to be the best dad and husband that I can be, because I know that my wife and children are a gift from God and can be taken from me at any time. I pray for the friends and family of these young ladies. I pray for you to be comforted and feel the warmth of many citizens across this country, and many well-wishers from all around the world. You and your beautiful daughters will NEVER be forgotten. With much love from Texas

To the Egan Family,
I know that it still can't be easy to wake up every day without your girls. I often think about Lisa too. She and I were classmates at FDU. We used to play 3on3 in beach volleyball tournaments together. I happened to stumble on this site and I'm glad that I am able to express my deepest sympathy. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Lisa was such a sweet, fun and loving spirit. We once travelled up to Kennebunkport and had a blast! Whenever I would travel south for the holidays, she would put in an order for GooGoo Clusters. I'm sure she's enjoying them still in heaven. God bless you all and may you find comfort in knowing that so many people loved and cherished your Lisa.
