James Egan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 11, 2026.
James "Jim" Egan, the beloved son of James and Madeline Egan, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and community service. Born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, Jim later made his home in Rye, New York, where he cherished raising his family for nearly 20 years.

A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a BS in Civil Engineering and a Master's in Real Estate Development from Columbia University, Jim enjoyed a distinguished career in real estate investment and development spanning more than three decades.

A devoted Catholic, he was a steadfast presence in his parish and volunteered as a CYO basketball coach. Jim treasured Sunday family dinners, loved his family deeply, and was known for his sharp, quick wit and his warm, radiant smile.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Maryellen Egan; their two cherished children, Catherine and Patrick; his sister, Mary Pietrantozzi; his brother, John Egan; and many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, warmth, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Resurrection Church, 910 Boston Post Road, Rye, NY, with interment to follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery, 215 North Street, Rye, NY.
