Robert R. Talhami

A memorial service will be held for ROBERT R. TALHAMI, 40, of Shrewsbury, a victim of the World Trade Center tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001. He was an equity derivatives broker for Cantor Fitzgerald on the 104th floor of One World Trade Center. He was born in Pakistan, where his parents were expatriates, and moved to the U.S. when he was seven. He grew up in Northbrook, IL until moving with his family to Caracas, Venezuela in 1978 where his father, Elias, was again an expatriate working for Harza Engineering. He graduated highschool from Colegio Internacional de Caracas in 1979. He attended Manhattanville College and then finished his degree in economics at the University of Delaware. He found his first job on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange where he worked for two years before moving to NYC. For the past twelve years, he worked for Tullett & Tokyo Forex as a currency options broker, first in New York, then in Tokyo from 1990-94, and most recently in London from 1994-2001. He moved back to the United States with his family last April and was very excited to "grow some roots" and raise his children in their new home. He was a wonderful husband and a father to his two sons, and could never wait to teach them new things. Whether it was to hit a golf ball, or body surf at Monmouth Beach, or to eat spicy foods, he taught them with infinite patience and good humor. Hopefully, he taught everyone who knew him how to enjoy life just a bit more. His family and many, many good friends from around the world have all said the same thing; "I have never met a man as kind as Robert who truly loved everyone and always had a smile on his face." We will all remember his happiness and will miss him dearly. Surviving are his wife Diana (DeDe), two sons, Noah and Jake; his mother, Blanca Talhami of Sarasota, FL; his brother and sister-in-law George and Marybeth, and their children Trevor, Carly and Griffin of Chicago; his mother-in -law Carol Dailey of Yarmouthport, MA; his sister-in-law, Lynne Dailey of Brookline, MA; his brother-in-law, Mark Dailey and his son Andrew; a brother-in-law Jeffrey Dailey and family; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins around the world.
