We all had the highest regard for Tamara; I was very, VERY fortunate to get to know her well, and to see her daily. As a professional, she gave everything her best effort, and the results were always flawless. As a person, she was the best. That day when we bade her farewell, I led a flight of a half dozen of us from Washington DC to Brewton, and we had time to meet with, and console, one another; a blessed time. The experience of that day in September 2001 -- we lost 25, where SGT Thurman worked-- is never, ever far off for the survivors; nor is the memory of those cherished loved ones, and your daughter, sister, and friend. Sincerely Ralph Masi, Colonel US Army.

Thank you for your service Tamara. I was a friend of your little brothers, Will. When I was in Montgomery, I saw your picture and knew who you were instantly. To my friend, It seemed like just yesterday we were loading a truck, sorting mail, organizing a cage, cleaning weapons, or you making that BK run at lunch for the team just before Jerry Springer came on in the dayroom where we laughed and clowned the entire hour. Those were the fun times we had "T" at the great 175th Postal that I will never forget. Thank you for such awesome memories and that smile that would light up any room. No matter were it was the post office in Korea, Main Post Chapel in Seoul, Korea, at Fort Lewis in the dayroom, or out in Yakima.....there was two things you could count on from Tamara Thurman....a beautiful smile and having her hair ALWAYS in place!!!!! I served with Tamara while in Bosnia in 98, in a 3 Man Post office. One of our co-workers loved Garth Brooks, while Tamara and I were Stevie Wonder fans.... She would go over and distract our co-worker, as I turned the volume low as if the song was going off.... So I could put the Stevie Wonder CD on and run back to the front. Once Stevie started singing, Tamara would display that beautiful Kool-Aid smile of hers. Miss u T.

My city of Piqua, Ohio had a 9/11 Day of Honor. Volunteers made an American Flag made of fabric roses. Each pair of roses contained the name of a victim of 9-11. The rose I pulled contained the name of Sgt. Thurman. One rose is for me to keep the other to be sent to her family. I am praying for Sgt. Thurman's family. I would like to send her rose to her family.

I was Tamara's supervisor at the Pentagon, I hired her and assigned her throughout the building. When she was tasked to the Office of The Army G1 she was happy and they were happy to have her on the team. We were in the middle of sealing the move from one office to the other and I would always see her in the halls and call her a traitor and with that huge smile we would hug. The day of the event I was at Fort Jackson recruiting Soldiers to come to the Pentagon when I received the message of the plane hit. When I finally got through to my office and ran down the list of names in my office she was the only one unaccounted for. She was a very nice younglady and Soldier I have never forgotten my fallen Soldier her memory will stay with me for the rest of my life. Rest in Peace Sergeant Thurman, your missed by all.

Tamara you are in my thoughts today as always. I think back to 9/11 and remember that you and I had walked up the second floor ramp together not knowing this would be the last time I talk to you. I think about the good times we shared in Korea when I got there and to learn that we lived close together. Everytime I travel to Mississippi I think of you especially when I travel to Montgomery by way of what we call the back roads and I go through Brewton. You are sadly missed but to that you departed this life for a more beautiful home keeps me strong. When I got orders to go the Pentagon, I can remember you saying that you would love to be stationed at the Pentagon and I am so happy you got your wish to do what you liked doing, being a soldier. "You are truly missed. I will continually pray for your family.

Tamara (Tee),
I prayed for your family today, asking God to strengthen them during this difficult time. I often reflect on the time we spent hanging out in Germany after Stacy introduced us in Germany, although not often, but definitely special to me today. I remember your laugh and your gentle and humble spirit, which always brighten my day and left me wondering how you could be so happy all the time. Although I never told you I always thought you were the sweetest person I ever met. I thank God for the opportunity to meet you and will continue to pray for your family and friends. I know that you are smiling down from heaven.
