Michelle Henrique Obituary
As a child, Michelle Henrique's life had revolved around her family and church - and at 27, she saw no reason to change her focus. A secretary at Fiduciary Trust, she split her week between her parents' home and her grandparents' home in Staten Island, lending a hand at each. At her grandparents', she was a house-sitter. At her parents', she helped care for her orphaned cousins, 5 and 8, who were being adopted by the family.
At the Church of the Holy Child, she was president of the Columbettes, the women's Knights of Columbus group. She mainly organized and helped run benefits - grilling hamburgers, singing Broadway hits and doing a bit of acting. She played, for instance, an over-the-top mother of a male bride in drag.
With discount tickets from her fiancé, Craig Castro, a Continental Airlines employee, she vacationed in Hawaii, the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic. She did not know it, but Mr. Castro had bought a ring, a surprise for her birthday in December.

Michelle,
It´s taken me 21 years to write this but you have been in my heart and thoughts all these years. From our first meeting at PS 42, you became my best friend. I spent countless weekends at your house sleeping over, sharing secrets and laughs. If not at your house, then at mine on Eltingville Blvd. I´m still not sure what led to us drifting apart but you were always with me. I loved you then and I love you now. I have no doubt we would have picked up right where we left us as kids as best friends. Always sweet and always smiling. My heart breaks for you and your family especially your mom Pat. I now work at 7 WTC and have for the last 18 years and my office overlooks the memorial. Every day I walk past the site, I think of you. It is unfair what happened to you and how you were taken from all those that loved you before you got to experience so many great things for you. I will treasure all the memories we made together and one day we will see each other again.

I just learned of Michelle's passing while at the 10th Anniversary Memorial. Upon seeing her name I wasn't sure if it was the same amazing woman I was very close to some time ago. I learned it was and although we haven't been close for many years, my heart immediately broke.
I was lucky enough to have known and loved Michelle. She was an amazing person and kind to everyone she met. I will never forget her beautiful eyes and heart warming smile. Although we hadn't spoke in some time, I think about her regularly and remember the time we spent together. She always surprised me with her outgoing personality, sense of family, compassion towards others and love for life. Michelle taught me many things and I quickly learned that nothing meant more to her than her family. She was truly one-of-a-kind. I feel blessed to have known her, she must be missed by so many people whose lives she touched.
I pray for her family and know she is an angel looking down upon them.

It has been 21 years since you were my date to my senior prom. We barely knew each other before we went out that night, and were set up by our mothers.
Due in great part to your sweet nature, we still had a great time, giving me memories that will be with me forever.
The crazy prom picture; being asked to leave the Palladium by security because I got sick all over the majestic, grand lighted stairway; You pushing the bouncer away from me, grabbing my arm, kissing me on the cheek and taking me to our limo. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of Michelle, Tom, and Joan.
I worked directly in that department for 6 month prior before 9/11.
I started at Fiduciary right out of college in Jan 2000. I hurt everyday over
this and I wish everyone would have made it out that today. It’s horrible,
It’s a horrible loss. I was three years younger those Michelle 24 years old
I can only imagine the tremendous lost you feel as parents and as siblings
And personally friends of Michelle. I lost 4 friends my age before 9/11 in car accidents,
Cancer, drowning, and fires and they where personal friends of mine I knew my entire life! I have attended countless funerals in the last couple of years of friend’s parents who passed. I hope your family will find healing. Everyday is a challenge and everyday you feel this I know I do. To Michelle I hope you’re guiding us here for being my age all of us are confused about the future and I went through a tremendous change in my life after 9. /11 I am still trying to come back from it. I think of you everyday and I think of all the ones lost in Fiduciary Trust I can’t get passed the 87 people alone there are some many people added to this horrendous act of terrorism. I just want to wake up again and go back to the 97th floor and be on top of the world with a view for miles!

I miss you Michelle. Not a day goes by where I do not think about you and how I wish it was me and not you. Millions of thoughts run through my head, what would have happened if I reacted sooner? Could I have got to you and got you out of that building? I was the one that was near you, only 2 blocks away from you. Your dad, Uncle George, called me. He asked me to get you, find you and take you out of there. I tried Michelle, I really did. I was in front of the trade center when it went down. I heard rumbling and pieces of the building and people started falling around me, so I ran away. I was terrified. I failed. I failed my family, I failed Uncle George and most of all I failed you. Why couldn't I have thought to get to you sooner? I do not know why. That day was horrible and I wish it never happened, but it did, and you're gone... but you still live on through everyone you have made an imprint on, an imprint on their hearts and souls. I look at my little girl and wish she could have met you Michelle.
Every year goes by since then Michelle. Every Sept 11th... I suffer. My thoughts of guilt kill me a little bit more each year. I hear from no one in the family. I guess they don't know that I feel this way. Uncle George was the only person to thank me. He said he will always thank me.
I am no hero. I am not looking for praise. I did not do anything spectacular. I did what I thought everyone else would do, try to find you Michelle. If I had a choice to do it again, to tell Uncle George yes, that I will try to find you, I would do it again.
I hope you are watching Michelle, watching over everyone and protecting us. I look forward to the day that we see each other again.

Dear Michelle's Family,
My name is Linda Fanene (Fisher), I am Thomas Fisher's Sister. I don't know myself where the last five years have gone, at times it seems like it was just yesterday. My family and I survive by living for my Brother's children, Andrew now almost 17, David 13, and Sarah 9. We also survive by holding our memories of thomas so near.
Your daughter Michelle and I became great phone buddies, although we never met we felt like we knew each other forever, I swear I think she knew my schedule better then I did.
A Little story to lighten your heart, your daughter and my brother decided to call and a play a joke on me one day, now mind you i work in the emergency room at stony brook and i received a call from a chinese woman telling me that my chinese food was here and that my total was i'm not sure let's just say 20.00, i kept telling this person that i did not order chinese food and that i wasn't paying, and this chinese woman just kept on and on about how i pay or she would call the cops and so on and so on, the next thing i know Michelle picks up the line along with my brother and the two of them are hysterical laughing, i wanted to strangle them good thing they were just on the phone. If I'm not mistaken i believe it was michelle's sister who they had make that call. We just laughed and laughed. I hold that memory dear to me.
I was at ground zero for the first time in 5 years and every time i saw a poster i would not only look for my brother's name, but i would look for Michelle and George's too and I said a prayer for them.
I too know that one day we will be together again.

I just wanted you to know that I am always thinking about you no matter who much time passes by. I miss hanging out with you especially in the summer, we always had so much fun. Trips to the Islands will never be the same.

Dear Michelle,
We think about you very often. We know that you are always around because you make your presence known. I went this morning to visit you at the cemetary with Roe and Jessica. Your family was all there and we said a prayer together. We miss you very much and we still wonder why God does certain things. I believe that there is a reason why you are not with us but I can't figure it out yet. I know for a fact that you are an angel looking down on everyone and protecting all of us.
I hope you know that you will always be a great friend to us. We had some good times especially when you came to Roe's house with 10 shirts,that was so funny!! We love you and miss you very much!! I look forward in hearing from you because we know when you are in the same room with us. If you can, please send some little angels down to Staten Island because there are a lot of people that need your protection. We love you.

Michelle, Although it's been three years since that tragic day, it still seems like yesterday. Today the sky is bright blue and there are no clouds in sight another reminder of that day. Michelle, Kelly and I met you through Ro and just as Kelly's honored to have known you so am I.
I have never met anyone as interesting and amazing as yourself. Your kindness and honesty shined through immediately. For those meeting your for the first time, it was obvious you were one of those “One Of A Kind” people. You wore your heart like a badge for all the world to see. You're smile definitely brightened up the darkest room. I will never forget you Michelle. I'll always keep you in my heart.

Michelle, I can't believe that it is already 3 yrs since you were taken from us. I was just talking to Roe, and it still feels like it just happened yesterday. The emptyness that we all feel without you here with us. I didn't know you like Roe did, but I wish I did b/c I have heard so many stories of what kind of person you were & it touches me so much. You are definitely an angel and I am sure you are watching down on us with that great bright smile all the time. We miss you and love you. Until we meet again!
