Marshall Manuel Henrique Jr., 79, of Ormond Beach, Florida went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 10, 2023. He was born October 22, 1944 in St. Augustine, Florida to Mayme G. (Fazio) and Marshall M. Henrique Sr. He graduated from Glen Academy in Brunswick, Georgia, graduated from University of Florida with Masters Degree in Criminal Justice and Florida State College with a BS in Supervision and Management Cum Laude.
He served honorably in the U. S. Navy, trained with a Navy Seal Team, was as a Navy liaison officer on the staff of Admiral Elmo Zumwalt, the chief of Naval operations in Vietnam and then he was wounded in Da Nang. He was awarded numerous medals including the Purple Heart Medal. He spent over 2 1/2 years in the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. Doctors telling him he would never walk again. He proved them wrong. He even ran the Jacksonville River Run 15k race for a number of years in addition to others races. He also proved them wrong, although he lost most of his hearing, he became a U.S. Border Patrol Agent (a highly unusual feat at the time) and then successfully worked his way up to Officer In Charge of Immigration and Naturalization in Jacksonville, Florida. He retired in 2004 with over 40 years of serving the U. S. Government.
Marshall is survived by his wife of 31 years Barbara Henrique, his daughters Heather (David) Marino and Charlene (Scott) Baker-Diaz in addition to three grandchildren. Also he has a multitude of cousins in Florida, Georgia and Nevada. Marshall's passing is preceded in death by his mother, father and his sister Donna Rose (Henrique) Parker.
Beyond his professional achievements, Marshall was active in Holy Spirit Catholic Church and Christ the King as a Eucharistic Minister and a member and officer of the Knights of Columbus. In Ormond Beach, he was also active in St. Brendan -The Navigator Catholic Church administering the Eucharist. In June of 2017, Marshall completed The Diocese of St. Augustine's three year Ministry Formation Program and several other trainings such as Pastoral Counseling.
After moving to Ormond Beach, Marshall enjoyed helping remodeling a 1959 home, designing a beautiful pergola back patio, gardening, traveling here and abroad, boating, walking 2 miles each day and always professional football.
Paraphrasing from another - Your passing Marshall broke our hearts but you never went alone, for a part of us went with you the day God took you home. A million times we cried. If love and prayers could have saved you, you never would have passed. If tears and the happiest of memories could build a path to heaven, we would bring you back. We all love you so much. But God called you and has greater plans for you. Go rest in peace Marshall.
In lieu of flowers, the family, has requested donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 2:00 at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida. Gathering to follow.
