Jerre Coleman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. - Middletown on Mar. 20, 2026.
Jerre Coleman, Jr. , cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, in Middletown, New York, following a difficult battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Pasadena, Texas, on March 7, 1955, Jerre's life was marked by his generosity, intelligence, and kindness that touched all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Jerre's enthusiasm for life was evident in everything he did. His passion for learning and his innate curiosity led him to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Florida, where he became a very proud Florida Gator. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a successful career that saw him contribute to various projects in the area, leaving a lasting impact on the infrastructure and improving the lives of countless individuals through his skill and dedication.

A long-time parishioner of St. James Episcopal Church in Goshen, NY, Jerre served with humility and dedication as a church warden, treasurer for 25 years, eucharistic minister, lector, and choir member. His commitment to his faith and church community was unwavering and served as an inspiration to many.

Jerre's love for his family knew no bounds. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Coleman; his daughter, Dana Vanderley; her husband Nick Vanderley; his son, Trevor Coleman; his wife Anyeli Coleman; and his cherished grandchildren, Aiden, Jacob, Owen, Ella, and Ava. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers, John, Steve, and Rob, along with their families, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and good friends that became family, all of whom he adored.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Jane Coleman.

An avid Florida Gator fan, Jerre's enthusiasm for his alma mater was infectious. He found joy in photography, hiking, and eagle watching, pursuits that allowed him to capture the beauty of the world around him. Music was another of Jerre's passions. His voice enriched the harmonies of the Middletown Concert Chorale and the Newburgh Chorale. Traveling with friends and family brought Jerre immense joy; the stories of their adventures will be retold and cherished by his loved ones for years to come.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to his oncologist Dr. Robert Dinsmore and hospice nurses Ella and Jackie for the exceptional care and compassion they provided.

As we honor Jerre Coleman's life, we reflect on a man who was the embodiment of a life well-lived. His legacy of kindness, integrity, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Jerre's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, the strength of faith, and the importance of community. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. GO GATORS!
