Sol,
I am searching for the right words, the comforting thing to say and much has been said in your honor with great elegance. Elegance reflecting how beautiful you are and how priceless and precious the effect of your presence in the lives of so many was. Your presence away from this physical world is a loss to those who loved and knew you. I have no doubt you are watching over your loved ones and I pray that they can find comfort in the lingering effect of your love, which can never die. God Bless you and your family.

Dearest Soledi:

Sometimes in life, words fail us because words and tears are the only thing we have left to offer. So, Soledi, may God Almighty grant your husband and your beautiful children strength and guidance to carry on. Look upon them and be their guardian angel. I will always think of you and I will ALWAYS miss you, never to be forgotten.

Until then, RIP.........

I did not know Soledi Colon. However, just as other Americans, I was horrified with the events of September 11, 2001. I wear a tribute bracelet for Soledi everyday and I shall continue to do so, as long as possible. My sympathy goes out to her family and friends. May GOD Bless all those who were touched by this tragedy.

Señor Colon and Mother of Sol (Not sure if she will remember me):

I grew up with Sol during our mid teen years and was a neighbor in the Bronx (4300 Block Park Avenue). We became very good friends and I will always remember her smile and witty attitude. My wife (also knew Sol) was the first to tell me of the unfortunate demise and our condolences are extended to you, your lovely children, and to her immediate family. I pray that you are dealing with this tragedy and that your daughters are adjusting to the loss of their mother (an impossible thing to ask).

Sr. Colon, I commend you as a father and your family (to include Sol's family) for providing you the support to deal with this. You have a tremdous task on your hands and that is of raising two daughters. I have two of my own and it is trying at times.

If you ever need to talk please drop me an email and I will be more than happy to talk with you about Sol, raising the kids, or anything else you would like.

We frequent the Pentagon due to our jobs and were fortunate enough not to be there that dreadful day.

Sol is in heaven and I am positive that she is watching over her children and you as her spouse. Her wings will bring smiles to her children during their dreams and a smile to you when you think of her (which I am sure is everyday). She touched my life and I have never forgotten her (still remember her smile).

May God bless you, your family, your children, and Sol's family.

Once again, my condolences..

Sol:

May God have you in his glory as you should be. Your kind spirit should be an example for all human beings. Thank you for touching my life. I am a better man because you taught me how to care about others and be judgemental of situations. I will never forget that, especially since it happened at the age of 15...when we first became friends. May you rest in peace and please watch out for your lovely girls and adoring husband.

Dearest Soledi:

I just wanted to share with you one of my fondest memories of you. On Labor Day Weekend 2001, I was invited to a Family Barbecue. At that point, I didn't think that would be the last time I would see you. I remember you walking over to Benny and sitting on his lap. You tenderly gave him a loving kiss and hugged him. Aftwerwards, you fed the girls some hotdogs & drinks, and once again, you took the time to grab them and you gave them the biggest teddy bear hug! Upon the end of the day-Benny offered me a ride and you walked out of the house to say goodbye! As you were walking down the stairs, Benny whispered to me--"Isn't she beautiful?" When he said this to me, I remember feeling that he was looking at you probably the way he did the first time he laid eyes on you. At that moment I realized how blessed you are. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, but if we live each day loving as it were our last day, then we have lost nothing. Love lasts forever in our hearts & minds. Sol, Rest in Peace for their is so much love in your family and it's because of you!

MR. COLON

AS I WATCHED THE NEWS FROM HOME ON THE DAYS AFTER THE TRAGEDY I WAS HEART BROKEN TO SEE TEARS RUNNING FROM YOUR EYES AS YOU CLUTCHED THE PICTURE OF YOUR WIFE. I WAS NOT AWARE THAT THE PICTURE YOU WERE ABOUT TO SHOW TO THE NEWS REPORTER WAS THAT OF SOLEDI. I TOO STARTED TO CRY KNOWING THAT THE PICTURE I HAD JUST SEEN WAS THAT OF AN OLD FRIEND THAT I HAD NOT SEEN SINCE 1985. SOLEDI I WON'T FORGET YOUR SMILE. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND WITH YOUR FAMILY, GOD BLESS.

To Soledi's friends and family -

I didn't know Soledi but from reading the notes I can see that she was a very special person. I am a singer in a choir that is participating in the Rolling Requiem project by singing Mozart's Requiem at 8:46 a.m. tomorrow. Each of the singers has a badge with the name of one of the victims; I will be wearing Soledi's name on mine.

One of the most beautiful parts of the requiem is this:

Lux aeterna luceat eis, Domine: cum Sanctis tuis in aeternum, qui pius es.

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine: et lux perpetua luceat eis.

Translated:

Let light eternal shine on them, O Lord, with thy saints forever, for thou are merciful.

Rest eternal grant them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine on them.

I will pray for Soledi and wish you all peace.

Thanks for the memories Soledi..you always took the time to visit this "old lady" to find out how she was doing healthwise. I will treasure the memories of those many Saturday or Sunday mornings when you would double park your car outside my home and call out to me... and no matter how I felt, once you flashed that beautiful smile of yours, I felt so much better!

I think of you, your beautiful girls, and mom often. May your spirit and soul be elevated to the highest point of our universe so that you may continue to guide your loved ones. You will always be missed, and remembered fondly.

Dear Soledi,

I miss hearing your voice so much!! I miss hearing you call "Friedlander, Pachske, etc." I even miss that dainty sneeze of yours that you had. It is so hard to believe that all my friends that I either sat next to or worked with over the last 5 years are no longer here. I miss you teasing me if I came in the office before 9AM asking me "Did your family kick you out this morning?". You were the best when it came to computer shortcuts/problems and was always ready to help someone. I still remember the last time you brought Shayla & Alexis with you to work. I also miss hearing/seeing you & Matilda together for lunchtime, etc. Sometimes we got so loud together but Friedlander never said a negative word. God bless him. This place will never be the same again. You made coming to work a fun place to be. I really learned a lot of spanish from you. Solly, I will always keep you and your family in my prayers. I will always think of you. Love,

When I came to A&A you welcomed me. When I had a question, you helped me find the answer. When you had a joke you share it. You always had a smile. Seeing you with your daughters was beautiful. You are and always will be part of them. You will always be a memory I will treasure. Your smile, laugh and willing to help. Your girls will have what you had. You will always be remembered.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
