20 years later... #BoydGatton Fiduciary Trust Company
"Boyd Gatton moved to the United States in 1992 and was still discovering new interests. An operations officer at Fiduciary Trust who was born in Paget, Bermuda, he spent his free time practicing tai chi in the park near his home in Jersey City, doing carpentry work, reading and indulging his nieces when they visited from Bermuda with his two sisters.
"He just spoiled them to death," said his sister Pauline O'Connor, who has learned what kind of an impression her brother left on people while she has been settling his affairs.
He was the type of person who could walk into a store and leave with a new friend, like Wilfred Garcia, a photographer who works at a camera shop in Jersey City. "Not only was he interested in photography," Mr. Garcia said, "but just about anything in the world." Published by The Republican on Oct. 17, 2001.
Rest in peace now our brother!

Whats up Brethren, Been quite a long time since you left us but truth be told your fire still burns bright in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved you. Some would think this would get easier after so long but I still need time to gather myself when you come to mind. Wish we could share a moment and rap like we used to share a joke and laugh about Scrufferie, Sea Cadets and life on Shinbone Alley like old times. RIP old friend and remember your memory is cherished and always will be. Selah

I am just finding out of your passing on the day the world was watching. More than seven years after and the pain and sadness is as if it was that day. We didn't know each other well...at all. We met when my family moved to Bermuda in 1971. We were classmates for three years at East End Elementary. I really only remember you from our last year there when our teacher would give us a test each week to rank us in the class. You were always one of the top three students. And that's how I'll remember you...a brilliant human being.

MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO ALL OF BOYD GATTON'S FAMILY AND FRIENDS. I FELT LIKE I KNEW BOYD FOR SOOO MANY YEARS. MY WIFE REBECCA WORKED CLOSE WITH BOYD AND IS STILL SUFFERING TODAY FROM HIS DEATH. LIKE I SAID I NEVER MET BOYD BUT I WAS PRIVILEGED TO SPEAK TO HIM OFTEN ON THE TELEPHONE. WE OFTEN SPOKE ABOUT COMPUTER TECH STUFF AND WHEN HE HAD SOME TIME TO KILL, WE WOULD JUST SHOOT THE BREEZE AND TELL STUPID JOKES. LIKE I SAID I NEVER MET HIM IN PERSON, BUT I FELT LIKE LOST A DEAR FRIEND!
GOD BE WITH YOU ALWAYS BOYD!

It is with the most deepest and sincere heartfelt appreciation that I send this greeting to all of Boyd's friends and loved ones.
I am his sister, my name is pauline and I on behalf of my mother and family would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for allowing my baby brother to be someone special in your life.
we lost my sister Sharon seven weeks after Boyd died so you could imagine the double loss we are living with.
But, it is most truly people like yourselves who have made it easy to get through the days.
my baby brother was a phenominal human being and I thank God that I can remember him as a baby as a child as a youth as a man.
I love him even more than ever and he will always be here inside my heart and I will teach my grandchildren and their grandchildren about the gift that graced this earth.
Sweet dreams baby brother.
I will be forever loving you

Boyd's family would like to take this opportunity to thank every one for their thoughts and prayers. It means so much to us to know just how many people were touched by my uncle's life. He was definitely a one in a million. He will be truly missed by everyone who has ever encountered him.
My Uncle was a very kind and gentleperson who loved to take time to make sure that everyone's day was going great. He always knew what to say to put a smile on your face. He could hold a conversation on any topic, because he knew about everything under the sun. As some of you will know, His nick name was "The Professor".
September 11 was a sad day for everyone in the world, not just for the families that lost loved ones. This incident affected everyone in some small way and that day will be remembered forever. Our family is doing fine, taking everything one day at a time. It is difficult knowing that we will never see him again, but it is comforting to know how many friends he has left behind to remember him and keep his spirit alive. My uncle was a very easy person to meet, but he will be a very hard person to forget. Once Boyd A. Gatton made an impression in your life, he was there forever.
Once again, thank you for your comments and prayers, you are also in our prayers.

To Boyd's Family and Friends
I only worked with him briefly at FTCI, but found him to be very intelligent and helpful. He would make me laugh and was a very good friend during the short time we shared there. I could talk to him about things other than work, which was great for a person in him position. He was very proud of being a Mason and enjoyed the reunions. I pray for peace of soul and mind for everyone, especially his family. He will be sorely missed.

My Buddy BG,
He brought so much light and laughter. And over this past year, I saw much that spoke of those who lost their lives so tragically and their importance to friends and family but very little about BG. What a loss to all of us. Be at peace Boyd, and know that those of us who knew you will never forget the joy you brought.

What can I say about Boyd that many don't already know. Even now as I think of him I have to smile. We called him "The Professor" at FTC. He was so smart, eager, intelligent, witty, and I came to know his caring and humane side. I was only beginning to come to know him like a brother. He would reach out to my children if they needed help while in school at any time day or night. At work he was so willing to give whatever was necessary to make it easier to get the job done. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Boyd believed that those who can take a life will have to one day be accontable to "THE Giver of Life".To Him I pray to watch over Boyd's family and keep them in His Loving arms.
Jehovah's Blessings Be with you.

I did not know Boyd but I am also an African American male who lives in Jersey City.
I am deeply, deeply sorry about this tragic event and what happened to Boyd and all of those other people. What happened on Sept. 11 was an act of cowardliness and pure hatred.
I'd just like to say to Boyd Gatton's family that you have my deepest condolences and I hope that in some way you have comfort in knowing that I, as well as many others, care about the pain and sadness that you and the other relatives and friends of the victims of Sept. 11 are feeling. Feel free to e-mail me. I am here for you whenever you need someone to talk to. God bless.

I dedicate this to you for you are thought of everyday by those of us left without you:
YOU'VE NEVER BEEN WITH YOU
How can you know how special you are
when you've never been with you.
And how could you have known
the ease of our first hello
would transform the gloomy shadows of aloneness
into the heartwarming splendor of togetherness.
Yes, the stirring passion your love brings
delights me, excites me.
So to you I pledge all that I am
knowing without, I have little to give.
Dearest
if only you knew how special you are
but, then again...
you've never been with you.

We are deeply sorry for your loss of Boyd. May his ability to make friends, his life and love live on in those who love him. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
