I didn´t know Daniel and was only 3 years old during the attacks. I recently visited the memorial and took this beautiful picture. I thought it would be appropriate to share here. The messages on this forum brought Daniel to life. He was a great family man and a great leader. I am sure he is doing great things in heaven

The most memorable nights at Marquette included Dan. I don't think our days there would have been the same without you. Man do I miss you. Even after 16 years, this day brings me to tears.

Dan and I played football together at Marquette and were friends who went out after the games, too. We even got into some trouble together there (kids!). I am just finding out now, 16 years later, as I read the Marquette Alumni magazine , that he was taken in the 9/11 attack. What a silly world sometimes.
Dan, you were my friend and my team mate. I remember you so well. You had the confidence in yourself to be nice everyone.

I did light a candle last night in your memory and in memory of all of the Sep. 11th victims. I explained my kids what happened that day, and I mentioned your names on Facebook and to my friends and family. You were a very sweet person and we had some fun nights out with your brother and friends, and some nice work outs as well, as sport was such an important part of your personality.
Miss you Dan, and will never forget,
Sam

Yesterday when I wrote, " Here we are at September 11 again. Still think of you and still remember you", I did not sign my name. But later in the evening when I recounted the events of 9/11 and my recollections of Dan to two very young people, I felt the need to return and sign... Dan is still in my thoughts.

I ran to the breakroom TV when I heard about the 1st plane hit. I watched the 2nd plane hit. In the days after, I continued to pray, and was thankful that no one I knew was affected... until I found out about Danny. I went to high school with him and will never forget what a beautiful soul he was. You will never be forgotten Danny!!

Here we are 10 years later and I still think of you. ... Today I am back at 303 Greenwich St where we both live and a few blocks from where The Towers stood. It all comes flooding back. Not just the horror of that day 10 years ago but also the seriousness, fun, focus, curiosity, and beauty I saw on your face when I would see you in the lobby or the elevator of our building. Those images of you stay with me.

Dear Dan, I can't believe it has been 10 years already. I remember so well when I spoke to our common friend Antoine who told me over the phone "they got Dan". It was really hard to hear those words. My name is Gail Ridgway, I came to New York from England in 2009. I bought a velvet pouch with all the victims of the 9/11. I selected one and when I opened it I found your name engraved on it. I wear it every single day. Although I did not know you, you are always in my thoughts, and am so glad that I can put a face to the name. God Bless you and all the other victims of that terrible day, R.I.P.

I lived in the same building with Dan and his brother Frank. I found them both to be fascinating people. When I first saw Dan, I gasped. His energy was pure and beautiful and I was stunned. I never forgot that day. I did not know he had died on 9/11 until I was returning to the building where we lived and my partner said to me, “There is something you should know, Dan is missing.” I cried. Suddenly, the tragedy of 9/11 was personal and had a face, Dan. … I think of him often, especially when I see Frank.

...we all miss you dearly...your easy smile, your hearty ways of doing things -from ordering huge meals and never allowing others to pay, your expertise in physical fitness, your devotion to your family, and just being a great and loyal friend to us all.
And hearbreaking tears still fall when we realize our loss of you on that 9/11. But comfort we find in knowing that now you are back with Angels in Heaven.

I went to Marquette University with Dan. We never had any money and he used to bring us exotic dishes like kimchi upon returning from weekend trips to Appleton. He was supposed to live with a group of us during our sophomore year. He respectfully declined our offer because he felt he would never get anything accomplished living with such a motley crew. From what I read in the online tribute, Dan was well on his way towards achieving his lofty goals. Guys like Dan are few and far between and the world is a lesser place without him. May God provide his loving family with strength in their time of need.

I didn't know Danny, but I shared a few high school classes with his brother Frank, who was one of the few people from high school I've always wanted to check in with and see how he was doing. Frank, I've been thinking of you and your family ever since I read the terrible news about your brother. I'd like to send my deepest condolences to everyone who loved him.

I used to hang out with Dan occasionally about 5-6 years ago when we both used to frequent the Asian professional scene. Always very level-headed, with a dry sense of humor. He used to work out big time, from what I remember (!)
rest in peace, Danny.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
