Dear Nesbitt family,
I want to take a moment to say that I wish I met Oscar. As a Trinidadian-American, I know exactly what you mean when you described Oscar's demeanor and sharp suits. That is the essence of a Trini. He is a guardian angel looking over all of you.
May God continue to comfort and bless you on this day and always .

I was a tenant of Mr. Nesbitt and I would like to say that he was one of the nicest and kindest of people. He had a very bright smile and I've always wanted to say something to remember him. I watch the reading of the names every year and wait for his name to be read. Rest in peace.

We still miss you, Oscar. And though this is the last year of the" reading of the names", you will never be forgotten but always loved. The world is a sadder place without your smile.

We remember you Oscar. We were tenants of Oscars in 2001. He was always very friendly with us and it was easy to share a nice conversation with him. Up until now I never actually knew if he had passed but always thought of him with fondness.

The Oscar I Never Met, But Knew!
This is from "Big O's" (Oscar) "Little Christian Girl"
I never met "Big O" in person, for the 20 months I knew him. He told me anything and everything on line.
He gave me profound financial, technical, domestic and legal advise. He helped me through a death in the family, a divorce; and even gave me nutrition lessons. I was his "little Christian girl" who read the Bible and sometimes prayed with him. He would not go to church but "shooshed" me out of the door to attend service. He was about to start attending church services the week his life was snuffed out by terrorists.
He was unique in his world, where he was "king" Lived his life, loved the way he lived it and affected as many people as he came in contact with.
My heartfelt condolences go to his brothers in New York, in Arizona; his favorite niece in Detroit, his mother and his sister in Trinidad.
To all of you, I pray the Lord will bless and keep you and He will give you the true knowleddge of Jesus, the Messiah, and His eternal Kingdom.

Something about Mr. Nesbitt's picture made me want to choose him to memorialize in the United in Memory Quilt Project... I am working on the block now. I would loved to have known him. He sounds like a jewel! I hope to do him justice.

My Dear Friend Oscar,
The pain of your passing is almost
too powerful to bear. So I celebrate
your life, and thank God for having
known you.
We were friends for over 30 years.
You knew my parents, my 3 brothers,
and my children. We were a part of
your NY African-American extended
family, and we loved you deeply.
As my father once said, "One is
never truly gone as long as there
are those living who will remember."
And Oscar, the list is long in your
family, in mine, and in others whom
you had touched. We will always re-
member you.

Words do not come without sadness at the thought that your smile no longer graces this earth. You knew me from when I was a mere toddler and your smile was infectious then just as the thought of it is now. My thoughts and prayers are with your family as they struggle to deal with your absence. I continue to try to imagine a world without you in it. God bless you and hold you close.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
