Doris L. Nesbitt, 90, of Texarkana, Texas (formerly of Mount Pleasant, Texas) passed from this life to her Eternal Home on March 4, 2026. She was born on October 11, 1935 in Mount Pleasant, Texas to Rufus McFerrin and Sibyle (Rush) McFerrin.

Doris attended Westside Church of Christ in Texarkana where she taught Sunday school and helped out any way she could in other capacities until her health declined. She was employed in school food service starting out at Texarkana ISD and then taking a position as Food Service Director at Pleasant Grove ISD from where she retired. She also worked at Chick-fil-A for several years. Her hobbies included reading western novels, watching Judge Judy, and gardening.

In addition to her parents, Rufus & Sibyle McFerrin, Doris was also preceded in death by the father of her children, Kenneth Nesbitt; sister, Veleta McFerrin; brother, Alfred McFerrin; daughter, Cynthia Norsworthy; and great-granddaughter, Londyn Smith.

Left to cherish Doris' memory is her loving family: son-in-law, Ronnie Norsworthy of Daingerfield, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Angelia (Terry) Glover of Texarkana, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Kenny (Donna) Nesbitt of Willisville, Arkansas; Keith Nesbitt of Texarkana, Texas; and sister, Betty Miller of Daingerfield, Texas. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren: Ronnie Norsworthy (Leslie); Ryan Norsworthy (Khristen); Tiffany Cross (Richard); Tamaira Glover; Trevor Glover; Tre' Nesbitt; Lacy Nesbitt; Bradley Latham (Raya); Gidget Sapien; Felicity Nesbitt; and Joseph Nesbitt along with 16 great-grandchildren; one niece; two nephews; and numerous cousins.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Center Grove Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Mount Pleasant Assisted Living and Cypress Basin Hospice for their services provided to Doris during her time in Mount Pleasant. A very special "Thank You" goes out to Hospice of Texarkana In-Patient Staff and to Shanta, Regina, and Diane for the care and compassion given to Mom while she was at home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Doris' memory be made to Hospice of Texarkana, 2407 Galleria Oaks Drive, Texarkana, TX 75503.
