Dear Mrs. Pykon,
I met you for the first and only time at Ed's memorial service. I was a fellow health care analyst at a different firm, and had the privilege of seeing and talking to Ed at many meetings and functions. I was always struck by the way his personality combined intelligence and drive with humor, decency and recognition of what was truly important (family). He talked often of how excited and nervous he was about Jordyn's upcoming birth, and afterward proudly showed me pictures of her.
I wanted you to know that in the 10 years since we met, I have continued to remember Ed as a very special person. Let me tell you once again how sorry I am for your loss.

Dear Jackie, Jordyn and David,
I grew up right next to the Pykon's on Oak Ave. I have plenty of memories of Ed including the "fight" we had about whose parents were better based on their ages (Ed won!). I have thought often about the Pykon family and since hearing of Frank's passing, and the tragedy that is 9/11 I wanted express my deepest sympathy to you.

Dear Jackie and Jordyn,
This is not an easy day, but I hope it finds you both well and remembering all the wonderful things about Ed. Jordyn, I was one of Ed's fraternity brothers in college, went to the same business school as well, and grew up in the same town as your mother. Your father was truly a one-in-a-kind individual who somehow managed to endear himself to all kinds of people. I share Bob Lister's memories of Ed -- I mean "Fast Eddie" -- being the master of our fraternity's party room. And hopefully, Jordyn, you have inherited your father's somewhat mischievous, yet infectious smile. Jackie, I hope you have received my letter to Jordan from last year (if not, please let me know). I wish you both the best of everything and many happy memories.

To Ed's Family:
Although I had not seen him in many years, I grew up with Ed in the same neighborhood in West Orange. I remember him being an extremely funny, very down-to-earth guy, but very intelligent as well. I am sure he grew to be a wonderful father and husband.
My heart was very heavy when I heard the news. I hope you can take some small comfort in knowing that he will be remembered well by everyone he came into contact with.
I am so sad and sorry for your loss.

Dear Jackie and Jordyn: Hearing Ed's name read aloud yesterday at the memorial service made me want to express to you some brief thoughts about him. I was Ed's fraternity brother, in his pledge class, at Lehigh. We lived together for three years. I regret not staying in touch much with him after school, but my memories of him are still clear. He was a likeable, friendly, funny and always cheerful person. I honestly can't ever recall seeing Ed in a bad mood, or having a harsh word to say about anyone. His love of sports, music and of course his friends from home and his family, were constant. In November of last year, we had a small ceremony dedicating the party room back at the fraternity house in Ed's name. Some of the happiest times we shared were when he was spinning records -- the house deejay -- in that room, which now rightfully bears his name. I can't comprehend of the grief through which you two, and Ed's father and brother, continue to suffer. All I can do is express my deepest sorrow to you and tell you -- as, of course you already know -- how decent and wonderful a man Ed Pykon was.
With condolences,
Bob Lister

Jackie -
My thoughts are with you. Ed and I were acquaintances both at Lehigh, and then later at Stern. We didn't know each other well, but we always stopped to say hello, and appropriately from what I read, share a smile.
I was so sad to read his name last fall, and continue to think about you and your daughter. I'm sure she brings you lots of smiles and laughter ...
You will both continue to be in my thoughts.

Ms. Pykon:
Ed and I went to Hebrew School together. He was always wore a LA Dodgers baseball cap. (Its funny the things one remembers). He was bright and sharp and was well liked. After Hebrew School, the group of us that were in classes together enjoyed seeing each other year after year at the High Holiday Services.
My heart goes out to you and your daughter. I want you and her to know that Ed's life touched far, far more people than you could possibly know.

Jackie, I too received a mercy band with your husband's name a few days ago. I read the article that was published in the NY Times. It is helpful to have some insight about the life that Edward shared with some many individuals. I will continue to remember you and your precious child in my thoughts and prayers. I will continue to check this site for additional comments about Eddie's life. I pray that God's loving arms would comfort you and your family during this time

Dear Jackie and Jordyn,
I received a mercy band recently with your precious Ed's name on it. I now wear his name around my wrist every day and I will wear it every day for the rest of my life. Every day I promise you both, I will be praying for the two of you. I hope in some small way you will be strengthened and comforted knowing that I care and that I am praying for you both. May God bless you Jackie and Jordyn.
Hugs and Prayers,
Hilary

Jackie,
I was very saddened by the news and my thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the family.
It was a pleasure working with you- you always had a positive outlook, and I hope that you are able to draw strength from it during these difficult times.

Jackie, I wanted you to know that my prayers will always be with you. Iam wearing a mercy band with your husbands name engraved on it. I am sure you are too young to remember these, but they are like the ones worn from the Vietnam war with the names of POW and MIAs. I will wear it the rest of my life. So you know, you have a connection across the country, I will always keep you and your daughter in my thoughts.

My thoughts and prayers continue to be with your family through these months. Being friends with David in high school, I didn’t get to see Eddie too often, since he was away at school, but I distinctly remember one afternoon walking into the Pykon house and seeing Eddie sprawled out on the sofa with a huge grin on his face….it was that face that popped into my head when I heard the news and it has reappeared many times in the last few months. As I read stories about Eddie and his sense of humor and laughter I know that his brother got a lot of that from him, since I see David’s grin right next to Ed’s.
I wish you all healing and happiness as you watch Eddie’s smile come through his daughter’s face.

My thoughts are with you, David and the Pykon family.

Jackie...I never met you, but my husband and I were friends of Eddie's from Lehigh. He was a kind and wonderful man and we were so incredibly sorry to hear about his tragic passing. Please know that he made a great impression on everyone that he met and that your daughter will grow up hearing wonderful things about her father.
G-d bless you and your daughter.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
