Michael D'Esposito Obituary

Happy Together
Michael D'Esposito and his family led quiet lives. "No fairy tales," said Grace D'Esposito, his wife.

Life passed to the rhythm of daily and weekly routines. In the mornings, he would kiss his wife while she was still asleep before he left for work as a consultant at Marsh & McLennan. In the evenings, his 2-year-old daughter, Ashley, would help him take off his shoes after work. Mr. D'Esposito, 32, would tickle her and throw her on the bed while Mrs. D'Esposito cooked.

After dinner they would watch television, content in being together.

Conversation centered on Ashley and on all the improvements around the house that they never got to. Bedtime was 8:30 p.m. for Ashley. First came a glass of milk, then a story. Tuesdays were Ashley's swim class. Saturdays were music class. The weekend was the time for neighborhood walks with the stroller.

Mrs. D'Esposito does not remember her goodbye kiss that Tuesday morning. She was at Ashley's swim class when she first heard. Now the two are taking it day by day. "We're trying to get back to a normal routine, which I don't think will ever be normal again," she said.

I had the privilege of seeing Michael's name today at the 911 Memorial site. He and my son were in the same class at P.S. 22 and I can recall what a good kid he was. His mom and dad are so proud of him and all his accomplishments. I'm so glad my son had the privilege of knowing Michael.

Michael was my cousin.. I knew his daddy well. My uncle Ralphy. He used to babysit me a lil bit at my grandmas when I was little... I have pictures of us playing with blocks. I remember tidbits of stories about Michael.. about what a great guy he was and how happy he and his family were.

RIP cousin. I can't believe it's been six years.. my prayers are with your little girl. <3

May God bless Michael and the family he left behind on that awful day in sept 2001. I didn't know Michael that well, but his father Ralph, and Uncle Mike talked about him with much respect. I hope that they can see that his memory will live on forever in thier grandchild Ashley and he will never be forgotten! God Bless all.

I knew Michael because he met and married my cousin, Grace. Although I only saw them sporadically through the years because we are on opposite coasts, there was one constant: their sincere love for one another. As teenagers, they were crazy about one another, and I was so happy to see that their feelings just grew and deepened as time passed. Having just spent some time with Grace again and meeting Ashley for the first time, I know Michael's pride in his beautiful family will be everlasting.

Did not know Michael, but through Joyce & Mike D'Esposito(aunt and uncle) I felt we did. I am a co-worker of Joyce's. Joyce always talked about Ashley, Grace and Michael. Want to wish you all of our love and support thru this tough time and times to come. Our thoughts and prayers are with you! May God Bless!

I knew several people who perished in the WTC. When I heard that Mike was also a victim it saddened me the most.

I worked with Mike for several years and he truly was one of the good guys. He was very good natured and helpful to anyone who needed his assistance. He was one of the few people that I have ever worked with that no one ever said a negative thing about. He was one of the brightest people working with us and he was also very friendly. He was highly respected and will be missed by all.

I hope when Ashley is older she realizes how nice a person her dad was. She should truly believe that it is not just people telling her that to make her feel better or to be overly respectful to Mike's memory. It will be the truth.

Mike was an unassuming, respectful person and should be the model for hard work and family values. He will be missed.

Michale and I e-mailed each other several times while trying to figure out how we were related. We never did figure it out as it was just before Septemeber that we began speaking via e-mail.

I wish his family peace of mind and I extend my prayers to them. May God belss his wife and daughter and hold them near to his heart in these painful times.

God bless you Michael.

Grace is my cousin. Growing up in an Italian family we were always close with our cousins. I remember when Grace meet Mike I was really happy she meet a nice guy who was so family oriented and treated her good. I always looked forward to seeing Mike at family functions because we had alot in common. We both enjoyed Heavy Metal music and loved hockey. He was a big Rangers fan and I was a Devils fan which always made for great conversation and sometimes some good old teasing, depending on who won the last game played. Mike was a great person and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Those who knew Mike will make sure Ashley grows up knowing that her father was a great man who loved her with all his heart. May God bless Grace, Ashley and all the others who lost loved ones that day. We will miss you Mike.

Michael was truly a joy to everyone around him. Respectful, good natured, bright and always willing to help . A wonderful spirit who was loved so much and will be missed each and every day. Michael is with God who, through his mercy, will ease the pain of those he left behind.

May Michael's enjoyment of life and family, his life and love live on in you. May the sorrow in your hearts be lightened by warm memories of times shared with Michael. We are very sorry for your loss. Our hearts cry with you.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

As Michael's cousin I will always remember him as a smart man I looked up to very much. I hope Ashley and I will have an opportunity to get to know each other as she grows older, and I wish Grace all the luck in the world raising such a beautiful and special little girl. For as long as I can remember, we have always been blessed to have Grace be a part of our family, and to make Michael so happy day in and day out. Thank you Grace, we love you. I will remember Michael daily, and never will a holiday go by without my remembering the delicious cheesecake he always made for the family to enjoy. I will always love and miss him.
