Taimour Khan Obituary

'He Cannot Be Taken Down'

As a child in Woodbury, N.Y., Taimour Khan doggedly practiced his BMX bike tricks until he could balance on his front tire, on his back tire, and even essay long bunny hops. One day he raced his brother Shaan so fiercely down Fairbanks Boulevard that their pedals tangled, they crashed, and went flying "for 20 yards," Shaan said. Later, although Taimour weighed but 150 pounds and stood 5 feet 11 inches tall, his determination propelled him to the captaincy of the Syosset High School football team and a celebrated 90-yard touchdown run. It was this drive that made Mr. Khan, 29, a commodity futures trader at Carr Futures, heading his own desk on the 90th floor of 1 World Trade Center. "He has the determination to be a really major player," his brother said, "and he cannot be taken down. I know that he's going to make it."

I never knew Taimour but have thought of him and prayed for his family for 20 years. I wear a silver bracelet with his name engraved on it to remind me of his and others tragic loss on that day. Thinking of you all, especially today.

We often walk through Maple Grove Cemetery and have occasion to pass Taimour's gravesite. We always pause in silent meditation. As the 10th anniversary approaches, we remember the families of those who died and we wish them peace.

Time marches on, but your memory never fades. I will never forget your wonderful smile and beautiful sense of humor. We shared our passion for sports and humor and for that, I am forever grateful. May god bless your family and friends! Forever in my thoughts and heart.

You will always be the face I think about on this day. You will forever be a childhood friend of mine who made me laugh, who I got into mischief with and who always made me feel special whenever I saw you. I look forward to telling my daughter one day about the amazing guy with the amazing smile who I knew and lost on this horrible day. My thoughts go out to your family today and always.

I was wandering in Central Park today, April 18 2003 when I cam across a park bench overlooking the Great Lawn. The plaque that your friends and family had placed on the bench shows how much they still love and miss you. I was touched by the words. I did not know Taimour, but I thought I would try and find out more about him. I will never forget that day. Rest in peace Taimour.

Everyday of my life for the past 8 months has been a struggle without you here. I wish you knew how much I loved you and what you meant to Mommy and myself. I never realized how happy I was until you left us. I have been blessed for the past 29 years of my life to have had such an innocent and pure Saint in my life. I will remember you everyday of my life and remember how truly happy I once was. Life just doesn't make sense without you.

If anyone has any information regarding my brother on Sept. 11th, please contact me. We need to know everything.

I worked with Tai for about three years at Carr Futures. I sat right next to him when we were at Two WTC and then just a couple of desks away when we moved to One WTC. He was the greatest guy in the world. No matter where we were in the office or what we were doing, he always managed to stopped by and tell me hello or ask me how I was doing. I'll never forget how pleasant he was. I will miss him. My condolences go to his family. He will always be in my prayers.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

I am honored to wear the Mercy Band of Taimour Khan. I want his family to know that I pray for them and wish them strength to get through each day.

Many of my co-workers remember Tai, who worked at Carr Futures, who we do business with. I never knew Tai, but his name was one of the first I heard spoken at our office after the collapse of the towers.

One of our accountants was on the phone with Tai when the plane hit. He said, "Something's happened," and the line went dead. That's the last anyone in our company heard from him.

What everyone consistently said about Tai was how nice he was. He was one of those people you were always happy to hear from on the phone.

I hope his family knows that he was admired and respected, and that he will be missed.
