Krishna Moorthy Obituary

A Call That Never Came

Krishna V. Moorthy's life was just beginning to feel settled down, said his daughter, Anitha.

He viewed his job as a technology consultant at Fiduciary Trust, at 2 World Trade Center, as a wonderful opportunity. A devoted if overprotective father who would find an Ace bandage for a scratch, he had successfully shepherded his daughter and son, Sriram, into adulthood. All this after Mr. Moorthy, 59, took a chance 11 years ago by immigrating to the United States from India with his family.

"He was one of those people never afraid to change," Anitha Moorthy said. "All of us would say, `You're not 30, you're 59,' and he would say, `So what?' "

On Sept. 11, Mr. Moorthy was at his desk by 7:45 a.m., and had placed his customary call to Saradha, his wife of 31 years, telling her that he had arrived. After the plane struck the north tower, he called again, saying that he was evacuating the building and that he would call again when got downstairs. That much is known.

But Mr. Moorthy's name later appeared on a hospital list in New Jersey. His family does not know if that means that he may be safe somewhere. For now, they are holding on to that uncertainty.

I worked with Krishna at Thomson Financial. I was in HR and he was in the IT department. I did his exit interview and I remember that he told me that we would be working in the WTC and it would be a better opportunity. God bless him and I'll always remember him.

I worked with Krishna at NCS in Parsippany, NJ. We were both programmers and he was such a delight to not only work with but just to be around. I am still very sad but am also thankful we were in each others' lives, even if just for a short time. Krishna will always be in my heart.

How can I forget my own peripa(Uncle).
He used to enjoy small things like I used to carry costly digital camera in a cheap canvas bag, He used to laugh non stop mentioning about the irony of the fact.
Also once I was at UTEP I had a free cycle from my professor which was 14 years old. I went ahead and registered it with Univeristy Police. I thought it was customary but when I mentioned this to Peripa He was laughing out his ears off.

It is 2007, I still remember those good old days with him back in India as well as in NY. He encourages everyone around him to do what they like to do. In fact he let me go to the Time square NY on New years eve of 99/00. I enjoyed a lot.
All I can say is Vazhga Valamudan (Live prosperously) and peacefully, We pray god that such bad things never happen to any souls in this world.

Krishna Moorthy was a dynamic person, always ready to take up new challenges and try new areas in his work. He was not satisfied just to be employed but he wanted to learn and accomplish in the new tasks he undertook. His love for his wife Saradha (my sister) was immeasurable and he wanted to make sure that all was well in the house hold. We all grieve for the tragic end of this dynamic person and we don't have words to console his family. We pray the Almighty to give strength to his family.

I worked with Krishna when he was at Chase several years ago. I went one way and so did he. We had lost touch, but that did not stop the sadness, when I saw his picture today. The name seemed familiar but at soon as I saw that face I knew. My condolences to his family, because he was a very nice man and it is extremely sad that he had to go the way he did. He and I worked together on projects and never once did I see him lose his cool. He was always helpful and willing to help.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

I saw a poster of Mr. Moorthy on 3rd Avenue, and was filled with sadness at the loss of this person whom I never knew, but whose serene, calm, and intelligent face impressed me deeply.
