Today I ran a 5k run in Lake Zurich I'll. Tunnel to Tower. I had the privilege of wearing a photo of Jonathan. From what I read about him he sounded like a wonderful person.

On September 10, 2011 I participated in the Chicago Fire Departments 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at the Aon Building. This was an 80 story climb that raised money for the Fallen Firefighters Foundation. On our climb we carried with us a photograph of one of the 343 firefighters that passed on 9/11. I carried with me the photograph of Jonathan. It was an honor and a privlage. God Bless his family.

Today, on the tenth anniversary of the tragic attacks on our nation, I attended a memorial for those firefighters and police officers who we lost on that day. I had the opportunity to take home a flag bearing the name Jonathan R. Hohmann. I am now honored to display this flag in my home, knowing it represents a true hero. My heart hurts for your loss; you will forever be in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless America.

Dear Jonathan,
I have finally found here a way and a place to express my feelings after hearing that you were caught up in the awful events of that day. I could not believe or accept it. Thank you for the extreme sacrifice you made, and for your service to all.
To John’s wife and family, and to his friends,
I send my belated condolences to all of you.
I went to high school and junior high with Jonathan. He was a good friend of mine in those years. I can still easily picture the look in his eyes and the expressions on his face as we dealt with the challenges of school in those days. I remember him during lunch hours when he was still talking about a class we had just come from, or strategizing about a class we were going to next.
John was always a “good kid”. He worked hard, did his best, was honest, got good grades, and was 100% reliable in his duties and responsibilities. I know that in junior high school he had perfect attendance, and I think it was true in high school too. In my high school yearbook, he wrote “Best wishes and good luck for the future - John”
John was a perfect citizen of this world, and I am privileged to have known him. God chose a special role for him, and we can all be thankful for his life, and learn from his ways.
May John rest in peace.

Dear Rosemarie:
My thoughts are with you and the boys as we approach the anniversary of this tragic and most devastating day. I will always remember the vision of John drinking diet pepsi as he was installing a new lock on my basement door one Saturday afternoon after work, needless to say, John was still wearing his navy blue firefighter outfit. I feel privileged to have known John. I will forever cherish his memory and so will the girls. We hold his memory very close to our hearts and we feel proud and honor to display his picture in our home. Indeed, John was a dear friend to all who knew him.
My love to you and the boys,
Maria

Dear Roe,
I remember the day you and John met. February 14, 1981 - my wedding day. As you danced, he stepped on your $65 shoes and later stepped into your heart.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and the boys always.

Dear Rosemarie, Matt and Greg,
As the one year anniversary of John's premature departure draws near, I just wanted you to know that all of you are in our thoughts and have been during this year. May the Lord continue to comfort you and may you feel comforted to know also that John has not been forgotten.....we remember him too...we miss his good natured smile and the easy chit chat we shared through the years. At one time we could say we knew John, he was our neighbor; now we can say we know John, he's one of God's angels. God bless you all.

Father we entrust our brother Jonathan to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.

I went to church with Jonathan Hohmann in Staten Island about ten years ago. His son Matthew was in my preschool Sunday School class. He also leaves behind his wife, Rosemarie and his son Gregory (Matthew and Gregory are . . . I think--14 and 11 now)
I don't know if Rosemarie is aware of this site, or of your prayers on the family's behalf, but I will make sure that she hears about this. I plan to get a mercy band with his name on it for myself and my two friends who live here in Grand Rapids with me, who both were baptized with John.
now that I'm living away from my hometown of NYC, John Hohmann has become the "face" of this whole tragedy for me. I'm so glad to know that there are others who have remembered him as well.
God bless you all, and please keep John's family in your prayers.

We thank Jonathan for dedicating his life to help others as a firefighter. Such a dedication comes with a brave, warm and caring heart full of love for his fellow man. May Jonathan's courage, life and love live on in those who love him and in those who have been helped by him. We are deeply sorry for your loss of Jonathan. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
