THE LAST TO LEAVE
He was the last one to enter through the gate
Younger than most of the others
He said earthly goodbyes to siblings one through eight
Now he'll say heavenly hellos to his sisters and brothers.
He served his county and was wounded but he didn't fret
He never asked for payment of any kind
He was the kind that would sooner forget
Others might like to talk but he was disinclined.
He was a tinkerer, of sorts, with reclamation of old scrap
Warm the greenhouse with cast-off cast iron radiators
So winter wouldn't kill his plants on the first real cold snap
If it was bad, he'd fix it. If it was great he'd make it greater.
With a smile so bright the candle would blow itself out.
A heart full of love and charity
A mind to figure it all out, whatever it was about
He could out-trick the trick with pure jocularity.
He's on the other side now watching over us all
Giving us a little nudge and a hint when we need it
Still helping those he loved in order that we never fall
And trying to get those wings to have a better fit.

Victor is missed by all residents of Sagewood community as the "puzzle man". He always had a puzzle in progress and a kind word for all. God bless his family.

I´m so sorry to hear of Vics passing. He was a character, and my memories of him are fond. I helped he and Lee while I was employed at Primrose. Your families are in my thoughts.

My sympathies to the Gosda family. I remember meeting Vic when I babysat for Alice and Lloyd Gosda.
