Claire Rambin Obituary

RAMBIN, Claire Born July 26, 1923 in Dallas, Texas, Claire went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2020, after succumbing to lung cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ullman R. Neil and Inez Bailey Neil of Tyler, Texas, and her loving husband of fifty six years, William Rudolph Rambin. She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Rambin; son Neil Rambin and wife Nelene; and daughter Christie Rambin and husband Randy Cothrun. She will be missed greatly by her grandchildren Libby Hitchcock, Philip Wilson, Stephen Rambin, Conner Rambin, Madelaine Cothrun, Bryce Cothrun and Anna Cothrun. Claire graduated from Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas in 1940. She studied business first at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, and then the University of Texas, Austin where she was active in the Delta Gamma Sorority. After returning to Tyler she met the love of her life, Bill Rambin, who had recently completed his service to our country as a Captain in the United States Army Air Corps. They were married on December 6, 1951, in Claire's home church, First Christian Church of Tyler, Texas. Claire wore many hats while she and Bill raised their children in Tyler, Texas: wife, mother, caregiver to her aging parents and valued employee of Citizens National Bank. In addition to being active in her church, her greatest joy came from attending almost every extracurricular event in which her children and grandchildren participated. In 1980 Claire followed her husband and grown children to Richardson, Texas, where she quickly became entrenched in the community. Her many activities included the Richardson Women's Club, the North Dallas Area Women's Club, and the Delta Gamma Alumni Association. She and Bill thoroughly enjoyed the Deppe Bible Study Class of the First Baptist Church of Richardson and activities associated with the Legion of Honor Unit of Hella Shrine (Dallas) and the Top O' Dallas Club. Claire could also frequently be found participating in a competitive round of bridge almost anywhere in north Dallas. Claire was a smart, resolute, competitive person who was willing to speak her mind. At the same time she was a funny and loving person with a soft heart. She never stopped wanting to be active and to explore new things. She will be remembered most by her family for her undying devotion and love to each family member. A Funeral Service will be held at Sparkman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1029 South Greenville Ave. Richardson, Texas at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 27.
