My 94 year old father, Robert Reith, went to Colgate with Julian and told me a story about him tonight that I wanted to share with his family. I came across a photo of my dad with a woman that was not my mom (of which there were never any photos of him without my mom!) so I asked him who this was. The story behind the photo is that Julian's girlfriend wanted to come to Colgate for a dance but didn't have a car, however, she had a friend who did. Julian begged my dad to go on a blind date...

I loved, respected and admired Julian as a friend and mentor. We presented the documentary “Paperclips” with Donna and Julian. He read poignant poems written by children in concentration camps, which were very moving, especially read by a man who easily could have been one of those children. I cannot imagine the memories he must have had from escaping the holocaust. I was fortunate to spend time with him. My only regret is not to have had a chance to play tennis with Julianhe loved the game...
